Any other brides of 2016? Do we need to prepare now?

Planning on a February 2016 wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun - but nothing has been booked yet. I just got in contact with a couple different Travel Agents today to ask prices. I have my heart set on that beautiful resort so I'm hoping the rates won't be too outrageous.

I considered going without a TA, but have a few older guests and ones that aren't very tech savvy, so thinking it will just be easier using one.

Definitely use a TA!!! They can get group bookings for you through a tour operator, get your perks and bonuses that you can't get without using one, and will help keep everyone leaving you to plan your wedding instead of managing their travel! There are some great Canadian TAs that specialize in destination weddings and they don't cost anything but save tons of $$ for you and your guests!

I'm getting married in Feb 2016 and got a great rate for a fabulous resort. We have already booked 76 seats on the plane from Calgary alone! And another 20 from other cities (some Canadian booking an package, and some hotel only coming from all over the world).

Have major details booked for wedding events and have photographer and DJ booked.

2016 bride as well! I have no resorts in mind or anything. I started emailing travel agents and they're all requesting I wait a few months then contact them again lol.

Not sure if you are Canadian or American, but a good TA can get you your rates now.... I'm Canadian and we got a great rate through a TA who worked with the tour operator before pricing was released to general inventory. Definitely find a TA that can get your pricing!! I have had mine for 6 months now!

Hi rbehike, just curious as to which resort you're looking at in Playa. Looking for suggestions. Thanks.

We plan to book at Riu Palace Riviera Maya. It has so many good reviews, is close to PDC, and has been in the top 3 resorts of anyone in the travel business we've asked.

January 2016 Bride here .. Just booked this week through a TA, Tour Operator SUNWING, departing Toronto .. Week of Jan.7-14, 2016 .. RIU Ocho Rios, Jamaica .. Very good deal ..

We told our guests that we were doing a DW more than 6 months ago and there are some who said they would be there, that did not start saving and do not have the required down payment .. which is frustrating to me because we told everyone a long time ago ..

This is a second marriage for both myself and my fiancée .. We are excited .. We have never been to Jamaica before .. We have 5 girls (ages 15-10) that are extremely excited too .. We did not do "Save the Date" cards or invitations .. We made a Facebook Event page and sent out emails .. We are trying to make this as casual as possible .. Is it tacky of us not to do formal invites??

Setting everything up with RIU Weddings via email ..

If anyone has recently been married at RIU Ocho Rios PLEASE message me or send me the link of your story .. I would love to hear from you about the experience ..

Looks like this forum may be done but thought I'd try. I'm a 2016 that has yet to nail down a date. I am thinking Azul Fives end of March or end of May. I thought I was going people a lot of time but according to these posts, I'm behind!

Any tips on what to ask my TA before booking?!

I listened to the brides on here and got a GI TA and she has been fabulous. She's able to give me one hour cocktail hour for free. I'm Canadian and don't get to take advangtage of the free basic package. Looks like I will also get 1 free for every 21; just missed out on the 1 free for every 16. Anyone else been able to negotiate this?

Happy Planning! :)

Depends on your airline and their current promotions. I got every 17 person free but before I booked it was every 11!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
