I ended up changing TA because the deposit amount was lower. With my other TA i needed $1000.00 deposit. Each TA is different, some require $150.00 deposit per person. Thank God, my guest only has to pay $50.00 per person.

I like working with him better because his son was married there so he know's all about Iberostar. He's very efficient and responds immediately.

You can tell which agents have connections with the hotel. I have spokent to at least 5 TAs and emailed at least 10.

The $500 deposit locks in the room rates for all 10 rooms but is applied to my room.

***And make sure you guys know that if you get 20 rooms booked your room  is free. (At least to at a certain point, it depends on the average length that the guest stay.

I just got my rates for next year but Mark didn't mention anything about the room being free if we book at least 20 rooms

Hey ladies!!! It's been a while how's the planning going?

For me ....welp it begins. Tomorrow is the deadline for deposits and out of the 82 save the dates that were mailed out only 4ppl booked and they're couples...smh but hey i'm not going to stress. Less is more :D

Well I've been working on our invitations....I am waiting until our package prices are quoted to us to mail them out so we can include deposit amounts, etc. I am definitely going to put an early deadline date for deposits so we don't run into this problem hopefully! I used to think about the possibility of not getting alot of people to book, but honestly, less is definitely more money in our pockets! We aren't stressing anymore. The people that really want to be there will! It's about the couple anyway :)

Hi Everyone - If you don't mind sharing, I'm wondering what the resort is offering you as booking incentives. My travel agent is saying that every 21st person is free, which is great, but my concern is about how they determine the amount. She said that it is based on the "lowest room category booked for the shortest length of stay." This is somewhat disappointing because we have 80 guests coming that will stay between 5-7 nights, but we have a couple people with family in Jamaica who might only stay at the resort 2 nights.

So if we have 75 people who stay 5 nights, and 4 people who stay 2 nights our discount is still based on the 2 nights. I just think an average would be way more fair given the number of people we are bringing (and money we are spending).

I thought I'd throw it out there to see if that is consistent with what you are getting? Maybe I can negotiate :) THANK YOU!!

Hi!@@beckys98 I am getting married at the grand on April 25th and am having the same problem. We have 70 confirmed guest who are all staying 5 days except for 2 people. We were also told that single occupancy does not count toward our incentive. It's really disappointing :( I'm going to iberostar this weekend to see if there is anything that they can do On their end. please let me know if your able to negotiate. Congratulations!

@@skelly0386 from my understanding it's for every 20 paying adult so single occupancy should count. Also according to my TA I can't book 2 nights its a 3 nights minimum so it shouldn't mess up your incentives. The resort doesn't book rooms for US residents but they can give u upgrades and incentives once your there

What are you ladies doing about flowers and decorating? At first i was going to bring all my decorations but then I found this AMAZING and I do mean AMAZING wedding designer Godfrey Guy. He's a life saver I have totally stepped back and given him full control. He's decorating my ceremony and reception as well as cocktail hour. He's also doing all the bouquets He is EXTREMELY reasonable and creative. He replies to EVERY email right away and calls me any time I need him. Hes been in contact with me since August when I first reached out to him. Now I know our contract says no outside florist but he does weddings at iberostar all the time (he's constantly emailing me pics) u just may have to pay the vendor fee for him to get onto the property. He doesn't have a a website but he does have a FB page. And from one wedding coordinator to the next he's absolutely wonderful. He's made wedding planning a breeze.....which I am so grateful because I just had a baby and I'll be going back to work soon #yikes ...if anyone is interested his email is godfreyguy1@yahoo.com tell him Kina referred you. He's definitely worth reaching out to because the contracted florist is ridiculously priced. My wedding is 6 months away can't wait....oh heads up his accent is really strong and my family is Jamaican and I still have a hard time sometimes... Lol! Also he will want a deposit right away to reserve your flowers... It seems skeptical at first let's face it its a stranger your sending money to but trust me this man lives and breathes weddings ...lol

Hey All,  I am a 2015 Bride who is less than 2 months out, March 23rd at the Suites location with roughly 70 people traveling from the states and a handful from Kingston.  Jesus take the wheel!  We are completely the "Last Wedding Details" form now and I am really thinking about the decor.  Thanks @@budgetbride2015 for the tip about Godfrey.  I wanted to know if he's priced reasonable?  My FI and I are balling on a budget.

Lastly, has anyone heard anything about the presidential suite?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
