Jamaica vs. Mexico

Recommended Posts

I completely understand your dilemma! I have to admit there is still a small part of me that is still asking that question!

My husband and I have been to Mexico several times and LOVE it!! Especially Playa del Carmen! It's vibrant and interesting! And everything is so cheap in Mexico! We couldn't believe some of the prices we paid to eat out in great restaurants!! And the food is soooo good!! lol  And thre are so many fabulous wedding photographers!!!

We got married in Jamaica, and for our first trip there, we absolutely loved it!! The people are wonderful! The resort went out of their way to look after us. Our wedding was wonderful! Everything about our trip was great! We desperately wanted to go back for our first anniversary! Well, real life set in, and due to serious health issues, we have not yet been able to really celebrate our anniversary!

When I started to look at details for a vow renewal next year, I immediately started to look in Mexico just because we miss it so much. We haven't been able to get away for a couple of years now. But I will admit to having the heartstrings tugged by Jamaica, just because our original plan was to go back there for our first anniversary. And I read the posts on here about Jamaica and wonder....... should we or shouldn't we???

But then I think about the cost of photography and that puts me back to Mexico. The pricing for wedding photographers in Jamaica, compared to most in Mexico, I find is pretty high. I would love to go back to Jamaica, and the friends that have said they will travel with us would all love Jamaica. I'm just not sure I can get a photographer for the same reasonable prices as Mexico!

Good luck with your decision and happy planning!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
