Hi,

Well you choose based upon the things you want for your wedding. Once you know what you want, you create a spreadsheet comparing all of the resorts. After that you can really narrow your choice down. I think price plays a key role in the decision. Knowing your budget as well as your guests budget is also very important. I would also recommend reading the content in the forums they can be very helpful.

Bests,

I think a big consideration is whether you want a legal or symbolic wedding at your destination.  Since my fiance and I actually wanted to get legally married in front of our friends & family on a tropical beach, we had to find somewhere where it was easy to do so.  We found St. Lucia and Jamaica to be the easiest places to legally get married (no translation of documents or blood tests).  Since Jamaica was the most cost effective for everyone to attend, we chose Jamaica.

Oh and I highly recommend a travel agent!  Mine has helped a lot and took some stress off me :)

Welcome to BDW!

A good place to start is to read the destination wedding reviews.  You can read about food quality, see pictures, etc.

i love the caribbean but I'm most familar with Mexico-Cancun/Riviera Maya (been there about 5 times) so went with something I'm most comfortable with.  Choose what's important to you. Good luck!

We chose ours because of the great wedding packages and the value of the resort for the cost...also, it has a concrete padded pergola area where we can married almost on the beach without all the sand! I was sold when i knew i could wear heels :) Now Jade 2014! Riviera Maya.

I knew that I wanted to use a particular company vacation express that flew charters from my city ( most of my family is here). This helped to narrow down countries. I used a travel agent to help me price resorts for my time frame and I picked the one with the best value IMO.

As mentioned above the ease of having an official vs symbolic ceremony will help narrow locations. I really wanted an official ceremony but the DR has sooo many hoops to jump. Talking with my fiancé helped ease the initial disappointment of having a symbolic ceremony. We will do official paperwork at home.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
