Hello Ladies, I am new to this site and find it to be very helpful. I noticed a lot of the posts were older so I wanted to start a new one for 2014 to get some recent reviews, etc. I will be getting married at Riu Montego Bay Saturday November 22, 2014. I have apprx 75 guests and I have chose to have the private dinner at the steakhouse upstairs. Please any feedback is greatly appreciated. I want to know does the steakhouse have a dance floor, is it big/small? Am I allowed to bring my own chair covers, decor, etc.

Hey :)

I'm also getting married at the RIU Montego Bay...in 3 months.

If this can be of any help, I am bringing my own decoration and chair covers which I ordered online in the States and in China (aliexpress.com). It's way cheaper than what the hotel/vendors will rent you.

Good luck and Congrats!!

I'm getting married June 21, 2014. It's a double wedding with my sister, we are 10 months apart. We decided to rent out the disco for 2 hours with DJ. 2 hour open bar and hors d' oeuvre. My count is 80+. We are also bringing our own decorations, because the vendor they use is over priced. I'm also looking for feedback. What to look forward to and what do I need to bring that was needed.

Congrats to both of you!

Hello, I just got married on July 26, 2014 at Riu. We had 57 guests and chose to rent the rooftop of the steakhouse as well. There is  a large dance floor. Also, the sunset is beautiful from the rooftop. You can bring your own chair covers if you would like to. However, we liked the chairs the way that they were. Everything was beautiful. You will be pleased.

Hey, glad you started a new forum!!

I'm getting married April 29, 2015 @ RIU Montego bay

Was wondering if anyone has considered the private beach reception and your thoughts on it??

For the semi-private dinner, what restaurants do you have to choose from?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
