Dreams Riviera Cancun 2014 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just finished my review of Dreams Riviera Cancun. We got married there 3 weeks ago and loved it!

If interested.

This was an awesome review!! Thank you. Could you advise on what's worth the extra spend in addition to package cost vs what's not? I'm finding I'm getting caught up on little details like decor and things that will cost me more but I don't want to feel foolish and like I was wasteful if it's not necessary. I'm looking at the middle (love) package for roughly 20-30 people. And wasn't going to do a dance or any extras at the reception, just dinner. Trying to keep my expense low!! Appreciate any help you can provide. And congrats on your new marriage. :)

Hi.  I'm actually evaluating the same thing.  Currently we've signed up for the middle package.  However, because there are services in the package that I will not use, I've done the math on going with the complimentary package and adding on what I want.  So far, it's coming out a few hundred dollars cheaper.  I haven't officially made the change to the complimentary package, but if it's allowed I will certainly consider it.

I'm in that boat too! I did the math and the middle package is probably going to be more economical for us... I guess I want too many "extras". :) I have noticed on some comments here that there are options to substitute - like if you don't want the cocktail hour, you can use that money elsewhere. I've not yet been able to talk to a WC (date is in September) so anyone else able to confirm how that works? Thanks!

Hi ladies! Returned from a site visit and have decided on DRC for February (23?!) of 2015 (unconfirmed, waiting on travel agent prices). We are going to have the ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour on the pool terrace, and the reception at the Seaside Grille ($1,000 extra but I feel it's worth it). Has anyone had their reception here? We saw receptions on the beach and pool deck only during our stay.

I'm getting married august 23rd. I don't really have anything specifically set up yet, beside we do have the complimentary package and will add on.

I have an idea on what we want added on, but I can't get a hold of Claudia or Elisa. I've emailed both a few times within the past months and cant seem to get any answers. Anything else I could do??

Also we are only having about 20 people so instead of a reception we are just going to do a cocktail hour, any input in what we should do for that. Thanks all????

Hello Brides!

I've started my planning with the coordinator, and I just wanted to fill you all in on the changes that have been made.  First, I will start by saying that I am not "pushy" but I am certainly smart in my business dealings and I don't just take answers without questioning them.  That said, many of the prices and conditions have changed.

  • Many past brides were able to exchange the cocktail hour for credit towards extra guests attending the reception.  This is NO longer being accepted.  I was told it was only for brides last year (even though I know brides this year have done it).  I explained that it is in Dreams best interest to do this as it saves them cocktail set up, a bartender, appetizers.  I was met with a swift "NO".
  • The outside vendor photography fee has doubled.   It used to be $150 and is now $300.  You also need to pay for the photographer's meal (which will be counted as an extra guest at your wedding).  I'm all for feeding the photographer, but doubling the fee is outrageous!
  • The photography prices have gone up substantially from last year.  I had an email saved that quoted $1,500 for a package, and now this year that same package is $2,500!
  • I asked if I could forgo the TTD session for an hour more of video (some other brides have done similar), and was told that there are no more credits being given for unused photography.  I even asked if I could have more images instead and was told no.  This makes no sense because it saves them a bundle of time and money.

I'm sorry to be a downer, but I wanted you all to be prepared.  I was not, and this has totally ruined my wedding planning.  My wedding is now going to cost a LOT more money than originally planned.  :(

Hello Brides!

I am getting married at Dreams Riviera on May 12, 2014!! Has anyone been married here who has purchased favors locally? If so, please give me some advice on how you did this. Also, did anyone get married in the US before going to Mexico? We are debating if we should to make it easier. If you had a legal ceremony in Mexico, how long before you had all your paper in the US?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! That sucks that you can't credit the cocktail hour for credit. After reading this, I contacted my wedding coordinator to see what she says. She hasn't responded yet.

I know the photography prices went up from 2013. I told them that they have to honor the quotes they sent me when I had originally reserved the wedding package.

I'm interested to hear their response as I'm dealing with something similar. Keep us posted!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
