Dreams Riviera Cancun 2014 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi. ladies!!!  June 21, 2014 here!!!  I'm still getting the hang of this!  How far along in the planning are you ladies?

I booked the photographer, but not the videographer.  I hope they are they same!  LOL

I had my travel agent look into it for us and we got it!!  Just make sure you get it in writing (email) in case anything goes wrong.

I had booked the wedding myself directly through the resort and they won't honor the complimentary cocktail party for me. I had mention I read that other brides were able to get "grandfathered" in and they're asking for names.

If anyone was able to get grandfathered in for the complimentary cocktail, could you please let me know your name and wedding date? I'm hoping to really secure this promotion.

Not fair!  :o

I received an email from my WC today.  She informed me that two brides from this board have contacted her using my name, requesting the complimentary cocktail hour.  She also informed me that I was not grandfathered in...I was eligible for it. The promotion details are book your special day at Dreams Riviera Cancun between June 01, 2013 and July 31, 2013 for travel from January 01, 2014 to July 31, 2014 you will receive a complimentary welcome cocktail party for up to 50 guests!

Hi ladies-

After being taken advantage of at Valentin Imperial Maya we've decided to book the Dreams Riviera Cancun for November 29, 2014. Let's hope this is even available given that I haven't received a response yet. Any tips on getting a hold of someone there or the best WC to ask for?

Thanks!

Hi Ladies!

If you are considering having your wedding at DRC I highly recommend it! I just had my wedding on January 25th 2014 and it was my dream come true. Here is a brief summary on how it went. Feel free to message me with any questions (I know how you are feeling!)

Ultimate Package

Number of Guests: 50

Length of Stay: Guests arrived on Thursday and stayed from 3 to 7 nights. My husband and I left on Sunday for another resort (Secrets the Vine).

Rehearsal Cocktail Hour: Ballroom (was supposed to be on the beach but got rained out – the ballroom was still great)

Wedding Day: Saturday January 25th, 2014 at 4pm

Ceremony: At the Gazebo. My uncle is a pastor so he married us. I will say from the weddings I saw at DRC how the officiant did the weddings was very different and not quite what I would want for my wedding – I’m not sure if it’s what those people chose but just something to think about.

Cocktail Hour: Jacuzzi w/ the mariachi band

Reception: Seaside Grill (perfect for a reception!!! Especially with the lantern lights and dance floor)

DJ: Used the resort DJ (very good except for some expletives in songs J)

Photography: Used the 50 pictures from the Ultimate Package but I brought my own photographer (pictures were the most important thing for me and it was worth it to have her for us)

Videography: Used the video from the package but also booked an additional hour (30 mins before and 30 mins after) I am sooo happy I did this! The video has made me cry over and over again. Message me if you’d like to see it!

Food: All food was great – the guests commented how impressed they were.

Spa: All bridesmaids used the spa for make-up and hair and they did a great job

Other Suggestions:

-       Book yourself in a Preferred Room it’s worth the extra just to have more personalized service at check in etc.

-       Also book yourself a nice room. It’s nice to be able to get ready in the room with your bridal party etc.

-       Ask for the complimentary room for the groom the night before the wedding that comes with the Ultimate Package.

-       Ask your wedding planner for a print out of the room list in your party (if you did a group booking through travel agent etc. this should be really easy) I made copies in the Preferred Lounge for free and gave them to everyone. It was essential to be able to communicate with all the guests (esp. with weather changes etc.)

-       Don’t get caught up in the details! Decide the couple decorations you want and concentrate on those. I did place cards, table numbers a couple pictures and one sign (all fit easily into a suit case)

-       Don’t pay for all the extras (bows, table cloths, flowers on the gazebo, extravagant centerpieces etc.). If you want all the little details to be exactly how you want I wouldn’t recommend a destination wedding. They blew me away with what they did (which was mostly whatever came with the package), it was better than I could have imagined.

Hello Brides!!

First of all...I would like to thank everyone for their comments and insight about preparing for a wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun.

My head is spinning with ideas already!!

My fiancé and I are getting married here March 19, 2015.

With family and friends coming from Australia, Canada and Europe, I am starting the planning process as early as possible :)

We have chosen the Ultimate package and symbolic ceremony (just want to avoid the legal process between Mexico and Canada).

Our ceremony with approx. 50 guest will be at the Gazebo at 5pm, followed by cocktail hour by the spa and the Reception at 7pm on the pool terrace.

With the package only covering costs for 20 guests, my question for brides who have already gone through this process is, what costs were a surprise and how much "extras" should I expect to add?

Thanks in advance for all your advice :)

Anyone decide on entrees yet? Still deciding. I spoke to the wedding coordinator and you can have up to 2 options, but I need to decide fast so I can put it on the RSVP.

I'm doing the BBQ buffet. There are too many different tastes in my group, and I want people to have options.

Has anyone had issues with new pricing (since booking) for things such as photography? If so, can we get them to honor the prices at our time of booking? This wedding is getting more expensive by the minute with things like that!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
