I don't think there is a "too long" I am getting married in Feb and plan on having the AHR anytime from June-Aug so we can have it outside in the summer.

We're doing it right after - we get home on Saturday May 30, 2015, and reception is the following Saturday, June 6, 2015. I feel like when we return from the DW, that I want the reception to be the first time the guests who didn't attend see us as a married couple. I don't think our AHR is going to be stressful or take lots of planning because it's only a cocktail reception, and the main focus is the dance party. Plus I specifically chose a smaller hall so that the guest list can stay under control :). It will be 2 weeks of bliss (as we might honeymoon in Vegas in between the DW and AHR!!) and then back to reality after.....

Were thinking of having ours a few months after the wedding in Mexico- We want to ensure that we can afford everything, and that the wedding video has gotten back to us, and that we have time to edit the other video (were going to be video taping some of our trip to show everyone!) :)

Hi We get married on 20th May 2014. We arrive back in the UK on 28th May and having our reception on 14th June. We was originally planning on the 7th but the venue was booked. I honestly believe it's up to you and your h2b and don't worry what others think, they should feel privilege that your wanting them to be a part of your celebrations xx

I agree that its on your own timing.

We wanted it to be a few months after but my parents are putting it on, so we finally compromised on April 18th, (we are getting married November 11). I think it's too long personally but I'm not battling with my parents anymore regarding wedding stuff, not worth the stress!

We are getting married May 21, 2015 and having the AHR on June 6, 2015. My FI wanted to have everything close, and because we are doing a super casual AHR in my parents backyard, it shouldn't be too bad.

I'm struggling with picking a date for our AHRs, My family lives across the country from my Fiancés. So I think that we will be doing his family's AHR when we return in July since we live in the same province as his family. I feel bad but family will have to wait and one later in the year or maybe the next summer depending on the price of flights.

For your AHR are you guys planning a big event or is it more of a get together?

I was thinking maybe a BBQ with pictures of our wedding?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
