Destination Dresses! Where do I start?!

Recommended Posts

I have NO idea about wedding dresses. I have helped a couple of my friends pick our their dresses but I did not pay attention to all of the fancy words they use for them. I guess I should have paid more attention! I am wanting to go with something simple, and lightweight since we'll be on the beach in the 80-90 degree wedding! I don't even know at this point if I would like something strapless or not..that would be even cooler, but I'm not a fan of trying to keep a strapless dress up!

My next biggest decision is...I just recently started looking at "blush" colored dresses and am starting to fall in love with them. I'm all about UN-traditional!! My only problem is..I'm guessing these types of dresses can become pretty pricey at the bridal stores since it's not the "norm". I'm wanting to spend the least amount possible on my dress since I'll never be wearing it again and am hoping to be able to do a TTD shoot after the wedding. I'm thinking I'm going to wear a separate dress for our AHR a few weeks later, which also makes me think I REALLY need to budget on BOTH dresses. Hmmm....more confusion sets in!!

I really like them, but if I were to go with a blush dress I would have to rethink all of my colors I already had my heart set on. So I'm most likely going to go with white/ivory. Thats not to say that if I see a dress I like and it comes in Blush that I won't be trying that puppy on!!! Do you have your dress already?

Not yet, but I'm going shopping for the first time next month! I don't totally have colors picked out yet (I'm SO fickle) but lately I've been drawn to black, white, and either blush or a light coral (Check out this lady's wedding decor on the tables - so beautiful & I am obsessed with anemones lately http://www.southboundbride.com/real-wedding-at-lourensford-hestelle-niel/)

I saw the MOST spectacular dress, and of course it is some crazy couture dress that is probably worth 3x what I'll be spending on my wedding. A girl has to dream though, right? You have to check out the link to see it on her, it's just stunning from all angles. (http://queenslandbrides.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/real-life-wedding-susan-ben.html)

Pinterest is like my best friend right now haha Thanks for the link! Yeah, a lot of what I love is out of my price range (of course!) but I think blush is getting more popular so they have it even at places like David's Bridal! I can't wait to try some on and really see how they look :)

I figured the blush colored dresses would be super expensive since they aren't the "norm" YET! I probably will end up sticking with the tradition colors for my dress...That blush one you posted is BEAUTIFUL! It's such a light shade of it that in some of the pics you can barely tell it's blush! I LOVE that about it! I'm going to try to stick to simple yet elegant for my gown. No long train, not alot of detail, beading, ect....I figure since it's on the beach I won't want to mess with all the hassles of the BIG dress! Plus I'm hoping by doing this I can save quite a bit of $$$!! We'll see! I don't know yet when I'll start looking for mine!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
