Wedding ceremony in Mexico- official or symbolic???

My fiance and I are starting to work with our wedding planner and we are starting to discuss the actual ceremony. We can get officially married in Cancun, however there is a bunch of extra paperwork and blood tests that need to be done. The other option is to get officially married here in Canada before we go and then the ceremony and certificate in Mexico will be more symbolic. What is everyone else doing and what are the pros and cons to each?

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.
