Great advice! I meant any advice on.. What you would not mess with now that you did the last time. Things your doing differently now from learning the first time. But your last post is definitely good advice for ANYONE getting, or planning on getting married. All too often people forget things like that and let their relationships get taken over by non-important matters. It's unreal how easily some let their marriages fail, without trying to make it any better. I have a close friend doing this exact thing right now. I have actually became farther and farther away from her becuz I am soo against how she handles the situation... But will not take any advice from anyone. It's sad.

Ah, I see!  LOL

I would never pay any vendor all their money up front ever again!  I would be careful of who I choose for my bridal party and toasts.  I also said I would never again get married in the US.  My family is from Jamaica and I have a huge family...I mean huge!  And I also have living grandparents, and a great grandmother so their siblings are mostly all still alive too.  My dad's side is huge and my mom's side is huge so its difficult to entertain such a large opinionated group.  This is why i'm doing it in Punta Cana.  Jamaica would have been even crazier because my wedding would be a family reunion for two families, and i'm not paying for that...LOL!!!  Those that really want to come will pay and come and have a good time.  LOL.  A girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do!

Thanks!

Did you look into Jamaica at all? I'm just wondering because it seems that a couple of the other brides on here acted like PC was soo much cheaper, wedding package wise and resort wise. I really want to do this is Jamaica, but then it also gets me thinking, if I could save THAT much money, maybe I should look into it. Although, I really don't want to start from scratch on resort research!! Are you having anything extra at your ceremony, reception? How about decor?

I don't think Jamaica is expensive, I think it may depend on which resort and package you chose.  I personally did not choose Jamaica because my guest list would have been nuts, plus i'm in Jamaica almost every year because my family is from there...I wanted something different.  Those are the only reasons I didn't choose it.  One of my coworkers got married there and she had a great time and it was comparable to my package.

My ceremony and reception are not being held at the resort where we'll be staying, but yes I plan on having decoration such as chairs with sashes, flowers, hanging decorations, table settings, etc.  Most resorts that handle weddings pretty much do the same thing, but you need to research the wedding groups and actual weddings that have occurred in addition to what they offer.

Looks like quite a few of us are headed to Dominican Republic. Ladies what locations are you looking at and what time of year?

I'm attempting to have our ceremony on 7/14/14, at Dreams Palm Beach but wondering if there are any other hidden gems I maybe overlooking.I sent a request to check availability of the date and waiting to hear back from the wedding coordinator.

We decided on Iberostar Bavaro and Iberostar Grand (adults only).  It is a large resort, but we have a group that includes a few kids, couples with grown kids, elderly, and single people.  I wanted something for everyone that was nice, where people could have fun and have good food so I think Iberostar met that requirement for us.  We went on a site visit to confirm in September and it was great.  It might be too big depending on your group and what is important to you and your guests.  It's a tough decision to make for certain...it just depends on what you're looking for.  I've heard Gran Bahia Punta Cana, Melia Caribe and Dreams are pretty decent.  I think quite a few people also go to Paradisus Palma Real and Majestic also, but I think I heard that Paradisus can be a bit pricey.  Research them all and go on trip advisor to assist.  Maybe get a TA and that may help also.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
