Getting Married in jamaica

I thought going into this that it would be a LOT less stress than planning a wedding here in the states......WRONG!!!! There are soooooooooo many options and decisions to make. I've done hours upon hours of  research and still am not 100% sure on what all I want, and where! Ahhhh!

I'm bringing up the subject of...Legal vs. Symbolic ceremony. Who is doing what? Is it easier do the legal thing before you head down for your DW? It seems to me with the little research and threads that I have read it would be ALOT cheaper. I would worry what day we should celebrate our actual anniversay on? If we decide to do it this way (which I'm leaning torwards the more I read) I would do the legal part HUSH HUSH, where only the FI and I were there. No one needs to know the ceremony on the beach is "pretend"! What is everyone elses thoughts?

because I'm getting married at a Sandals Resorts, the cost for my minister and marriage life are not costing me anything, they are included in the free package that I already get. My taxes and government fees they take out of the $500 resort credit that I get so it really saves me a lot

We were originally considering getting legally married before we left for the DW. After seeing some posts and more information about getting legally married in Jamaica I think we are doing that now. It seems like with Iberostar, most of the costs are included in the wedding packages and you just send the WC your documents and they take care of it. At least that is how I understand the process. I totally understand your fiances thinking on having the 3 ceremonies. We, too, are having an at home reception. It's a little more expensive to do the civil ceremony at Secrets, but my mom is thinking int he long run I would be better off..I guess thats a decision I have time to think about. Hopefully I'll hear enough feedback from past/future brides that will help me make my decision! Thanks guys!
