Ok I'm trying to save as much money possible... Is it necessary to send out save the dates for a destination wedding? I'm getting married may 2015 I was going to send out save the dates in may 2014 followed by a invitation in the fall of 2014 I was just thinking maybe I could send the invitations out may 2014 and no save the dates? Has any brides done this? I just know that half the people that get the save the dates won't come so would I be safe with just giving the invitations out a year in advance or is the save the dates necessary? Thanks everyone

i sent my save the dates out in july 2013 for my wedding in June of  2014(only since i didn't get them until july) lol. choice of resort is depending on what things you need. my self i'm staying at Sandals, Whitehouse. For me i fell in love with it, now the difference is Sandals resorts are not children/family oriented, (that's beaches) since i have no chilldren attending it was perfect and the cost was excellent as well. those that have children love ther rui as well as iberostar. if you do chose sandals or beaches, people can also stay at any sandals , or beaches and they don't have to pay a day pass. so let's say you stay at Sandals, Montego bay, but for cost your guest stay at sandals carysle in montego, bay, they can stay at one and play at all, they wono't have to pay to come over to your resort. here is where i am going ot be. i loved it because it's alll oceanfront and none of my guest have to upgrade their rooms to have great room view. www.sandals.com/whitehouse

Hello im getting married on the 20th January 2014 at the Grand Palladium.

What made me choose this hotel was first of all the price, its a 5* hotel but with a great value for price compared to other 5* hotels in Jamaica....I also loved the Image of the hotel, how the resteraunts over look the pool and lights up at night, the sunsets on the sea also and I thought this would be lovely for wedding pictures. The wedding gazebo was a huge factor in my booking, its so big and over looks the sea and also private, many of the other hotels gazebos were small and pokie.

I read so many reviews on forums and trip advisor, it came across as a beautiful hotel and the only complaints I could see were petty ones such as a cracked tile or 'the water doesn't drain quick enough down the plug' lol. I wouldn't let something like that ruin my holiday/wedding let alone write a review about it

Overall I just love the hotel, and I cant wait to get married there.

How is everyone getting on with their planning??

I am in the same place as you are, trying to find a resort that has the balance of class and price. I want the 5* experience, but don't want my guests to be priced out of this experience because I chose a 5* resort. It doesn't help that my date (8/8/15) is so far out that travel agents aren't able to give me a good idea of pricing. I am going to look into the Grand Palladium per the comment above. :)

It does seem that way. I think their wedding packages seem pretty pricey though, and they do not have my colors in one of their packages, so not sure how that would work... Humph! I am so overwhelmed with this decision. I just want the place to be nice, have fun and get married. I thought destination weddings were supposed to be stress free?!?! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
