For my past and planning African American brides who plan to wear or wore their own hair.

Another natural bride here! I was super worried about my hair, because I have long dreadlocs, but luckily, my wedding planner has a stylist who can do my hair. :thewave: There are some great natural wedding styles on Pinterest, but another great option is Offbeat bride. They have two posts covering natural hairstyles for black brides. Munaluchi bride is also fantastic for inspiration. There's also a fantastic FB group called Black Women with Real Hair that posts many different natural styles daily, as well as hair care tips. Thank you so much to the OP for starting this thread! While I certainly am a big supporter of brides however they wear their hair, it's nice to see other AA celebrating their natural curls.

Do you guys have most of your things in place , found? Or purchased for your big day?
Not at all. I have several list. I have list for things I need to do, things I need to purchase, and so forth. For the most part I think I've paid or put deposits on the major stuff except our reception venue. Still working that out.

Thanks brownsugarbride I will definitely check out the sites you mentioned. Honestly, my biggest worry is finding someone to do my hair beautifully and how I want it more than how I want to wear my hair.

Heck no! I have some things in place. I got the STD done and I intend on getting them in the mail this week. So that will be one big project out of the way. On to invitations :)... I am also trying to confirm my ceremony and reception venues with the resort, hopefully we will get that out of the way this week too. I'm looking forward to working on welcome and OOT bags, but that's pretty far into the future.

It is nice having other natural brides to talk hair with. I usually talk hair with some natural girls on other forums... But wedding natural hair talk is much different. :) I still often find myself wanting to wear straight styles... I'm just not sure how I want to wear my hair for the wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
