Excellence Punta Cana Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hello! My FI and I will have out wedding at the Excellence Punta Cana Resort on May 3rd, 2014. I have been looking and reading through the threads for any additional information I could get for now. My wedding coordinator for the resort has confirmed my date and time but stated that she will get back in touch with me about 2 months before the wedding date. I just feel like I should be doing more or asking more questions. There are a few things I am interested in finding out before 2 months of the wedding date. I never been married before and have not attended to many weddings so I am a bit confused or just need further clarification on what some of the things the wedding package includes. Here are some of the questions: For the Excellenece of Love Wedding Package it is for 20 people. Would that mean 20 people including my FI and I or 20 people and my FI and I would make 22 people all together? The special silver wedding dinner that is included with the package, is that another word for reception? If so, will there be music at the reception? Do I provide my own playlist? Do we have to hire a DJ? As for color selection; do I get to choose colors or are the colors already choosen. Anyone know what type of prices the resort photographer charge? Any help will be appreciated!! Thank You All!!!!

I have all this info if you want to give me your email. My wedding is 11/8/14. I got the info back in May, so it may be a tad outdated, but it definitely helped to calm my nerves. If you don't want to give your email over this site, you can email the wedding coordinator and ask them to send you all of the package details. I also emailed Photo Souvenir and they sent me over a price list but said they were changing their prices soon. I'm too new on the site to be able to add attachments, etc.

I believe you are included in the 20 people. The wedding dinner is a reception, but you have to pay for the dj, or for the use of their speakers so you can have an ipod. They gave me .pdf's of some premade centerpieces, bouquets, etc in each price level.

I'm doing the gold package, so I don't have menu options for the silver level.

@tbrow813  I'm getting married at the EPC 1/12/15 and my experience has been similar to Jennelle's.  I have a TA who booked the room block and wedding date, and then I got sent sheets for bouquets, centerpieces, photography, etc.

I've emailed Emy Rose a few times and she has gotten back to me.  DJ is $1200 for 3 hours, outside vendor fee for photographer is $500 but does not include dinner (so I think I need to include him in my reception headcount).

It's stressful not having all the information but I think this is normal.  I've poured over all the old threads and it sounds like you get your email 2 months in advance and make your selections.  Then the day after you arrive on the resort you meet the WC in person and finalize everything.

I guess that's the beauty (and curse!) of a DW.  Not much planning (which IS kind of stressful.  LOL).  Hang in there!!

I will be getting married (symbolic ceremony) on 4/16/14 and emailed EPC and received all the options. I still have a few questions, but Emy has been very responsive and helped clarify everything I've asked. I still don't know how the Silver Dinner will work for me since (1) there's only 8 total (I'm guessing they'll just scale down the sizes of the appetizers), and (2) I'm hoping this is just a dinner and not a full on reception, as we have no plans of hiring a DJ, paying for extra decorations, etc. I'm confused as to where this will happen since the questionnaire asks which restaurant and time you want your dinner at. We're getting married at 11am so hopefully they'll be able to move the dinner to a lunch hour, but if not, it's no big deal...we'll just wear our wedding clothes to lunch and will dress a little nicer for our Silver Dinner that evening. (We have the luxury of being laid back about details since it's just our immediate families at our wedding!)

As for photographers, I'm not sure if they mentioned that Photosouvenir is no longer the in-house photographer...Beach Wedding Studios now is. I'm really bummed since I booked EPC because I was in love with Photosouvenir. I can still book Photosouvenir, but will be charged a $500 fee by EPC for hiring an outside vendor (not too happy about that option, but that's the nature of how resorts work). I've been in email contact with Photosouvenir about their services and can say that they are willing to customize packages (for me, I don't need a photographer for 3 hours since our wedding is for immediate family only and there won't be a real reception with dancing, etc.). Once you compare the two companies and their packages, you'll see that Photosouvenir might be worth the splurge since they seem to include more bang for the buck (can you tell I really want to hire Photosouvenir?!...I'm just trying to figure out whether I can justify the cost)!

I, too, feel like I'm under-preparing for my wedding compared to friends who've planned their own weddings. However, the reason I booked a destination wedding is so I wouldn't stress like they did over the fine details. I figure that Emy would let me know if I'm missing anything, and if we realize there's a problem at the meeting we have before the wedding, things will be worked out in time.

One thing I hadn't thought about since it's an outside wedding is music (I've had friends that just walk down the beach without any music and it wasn't that weird). The wedding questionnaire Emy emailed me (which was different than the one I completed back in June 2013) asks if you have music or songs you want played and said to bring an ipod with the songs.

Definitely request the options from Emy or Claribel...I received a questionnaire and options for: cake, bouquet, corsage, boutonniere, hair flower, gazebo decorations, Silver Appetizer and Dinner menu options, and floral centerpieces.

Also, if you plan on having your hair and make up done by the spa, make sure you email them as well...they're booked separately and aren't as quick to respond to you as Emy was.

If anyone has any other information that might be helpful, please let me know! Congratulations!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
