She was telling me a few months ago that it is $150/hr for the dj. I sent her an email this morning asking her to clarify... I'll let you all know when I hear back (in a week or two...lol!).

I wish I had more, sorry. Maybe someone has other angles, but that's really what it looks like.

I passed by it during the day when the side door was propped open and it was still dark. I think it's painted that way.

It's a club (as opposed to a reception hall or restaurant) so it's got that dark nightclub vibe to it. Not pitch black, but like a club. We really enjoyed the place. Maybe we are freaks but we prefer dancing in the dark to dancing under bright lights...lol There was a cool disco ball that made everything sparkly :o)

My wedding is at 4:30 pm, and the dinner at the Plantation starts at 7-9. If I cancel the disco (which I already had the DJ hired for), and moved the reception to the Plantation, I think that would solve all my problems. I'm not really sure I would like to pay $10 pp for the open bar though. That is kind of stretching the budget. Approximately $1800 for four hours including DJ, open bar, and rental of Plantation. Does that sound right? I don't have much time to decide! The wedding is in less than three months!smile41.gif
You don't have to pay for open bar. We have over 70 people coming to Jamaica for our wedding that would cost us over $700.00 for open bar at an all inclusive so we decided against it. The plantation serves Beer, White Wine and Red Wine so we figured people could drink that while we have dinner.

Thanks Starchild...I agree w/ dancing in the dark, but I just have visions of a kind of dive club with sticky floors, etc. But if you loved it, then I should just roll with it! thanks!

Hi Pouchie,
I realize we don't have to pay for the open bar and that beer and wine are included. However, we have now pulled out of renting the disco and are going to be having our dinner and reception at the Plantation 7-11 pm (and having the DJ for the four hours). I know my guests would like to have hard liquour. I would have preferred to only have the open bar from 9-11 pm, but I believe the $10 pp applies to the entire four hours. Correct me if I'm wrong please! I myself, would personally be satisfied with just the beer and wine!

I was thinking of going for the beer/wine option, but my guests are going to be used to drinking whatever they want all week, so I don't want that to stop, especially at the reception. (Also, I love mixed drinks!)
The $10/person is for all 4 hours, as far as I know.

Thanks!
I think Jerzzygirl had posted a couple pics of the inside of the disco. Have you checked out all of the pics she posted on photobucket?

I thought the standard dinner reception time for the plantation restaurant was 6:30pm? Is there a choice to have it later? I read that someone is scheduled for a 7:00pm dinner. Are there other time slots available?? Chandlyn only informed me of the 6:30pm.

Also, if you rent the disco for 2 hours, all hard liquor, and DJ are included in the rental price. I'm not sure about the hard liquor for the Plantation.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
