Chelsea & Josh's PLANNING THREAD - Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, Jamaica - **TONS AND TONS OF DIY AND PICS**

Recommended Posts

Congrats Chelsea!!! I have a question if you do not mind. I was considering the IRHS for our wedding. Could you tell me what the package prices were for your guests? From what I can gather from Expedia it will cost a couple over $2K for hotel and air just to stay 4 nights. That is a bit pricey for what I wanted my guests to pay, but I am not sure what incentives the hotel/travel agency has offered you and your guests. Any info would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!

Hello love! Absolutely no problem! Where are your guests coming from and what is your date? $2k seems extremely high! My guests paid around $1500-$1700/person for one week, all inclusive with airfare and hotel transfers, this was through my travel agent and I live in VT so it's pretty hard to get anywhere so I thought mine would be towards the higher price point. My fiance and I are going for 11 days and switching resorts and upgraded airfare and it was around $5500 for us both. I highly recommend the resort. I have been there before and it's fantastic! What other resorts are you considering? Please ask me any questions I'd love to help!

I saw these AMAZING table runners on Etsy but they were $20 a piece - yeah false! I decided I was going to finally learn how to sew and take a wack at making my own. So that's what I did - I purchased all of the material at Joann's with coupons and made my own runners! I love how they turned out. I am going to alternate the turquoise and coral chevron on each table.

This is what I'm thinking for table settings. What do you all think?

DIY Post Card Guest Book:

I put these together last night. I put one post card in each glassine envelope I bought on Amazon and put an avery label I printed on it. I really like how they turned out, I'm going to have one per place setting so hopefully they will take the time to fill them out, or have the option of sending them back to us after the wedding ( I would prefer before we leave Jamaica though so they actually do it!).

i love this good job!

Aww thank you! I Don't stress you have plenty of time ! :) I've done all of this in one year so it's definitely possible! However, my only advice is to never buy a house and get married in the same year! Lol.

Hi Chelsea,

WOW! $1500 per person for an entire week seems reasonable to me, but we are not expecting most of our guests to stay the whole week, but who knows. We are mostly all going to be coming from the NYC area, so it is definitely a travel hub. My date is tentatively set for 8/8/15 (yes I am a neurotic over-planner so I am giving us this extra time!!). What travel agent are you using? I have reached out to a couple, but no one can give me numbers because my date is so far out. I have heard so many good things about this place, so I really want to get married here, but I don't want to price my guests out of the option of coming you know? I am mostly concerned about families of 4 with children, the pricing for next August is coming close to $3500 for the entire family for just 4 nights!!! That in my opinion is WAY too expensive for me to expect people to really shell out for just 4 days. I could totally see that price for an entire week. We are also looking at the Riu Montego Bay and the Riu Tropical Palace in Negril. How many guests are coming to your wedding? Any children? We wanted to choose a summer month so it would not interfere with school schedules as our families have lots of children, but it may be more expensive because of that.

Thanks again!

Rebecca

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
