I just joined the site in hopes of connecting with other Blue Venado brides! I went to BV 2 years ago for a new years party and fell in love with the place... It is truly beautiful, unique, and special! I am so excited to get married there next May!

Joyce is my planner as well---she is fab!

Did anyone else get the notice about the imposed tax hike for 2014 and the offer to pay before the end of the year?

I reached out to my planner about the tax hike. I wish I'd seen the notice in time to pay last month! LOL  Nevertheless, even though I don't know the exact number of guests that we will have, I am going to pay a ballpark figure to take advantage of the savings.

Andrea-It's so wonderful to hear from another BV bride! I won't be able to visit until about 3 days before the wedding, so I just love getting even more confirmation that this is a wonderful location!

Hi ladies!!

I recently got engaged and have been researching off resort options for getting married... they are all coming in at between 10,000 to 15,000 for a reception for 40-60 people. I just crunched numbers for Blue Venado and it's coming in close to 10,000 or slightly over. Are my numbers completely out of whack here or is that similar (I know there are many options) to what you other ladies are paying?

Also, they have on the wedding list that it's 50.00 for the night for open bar PP.. do you know how many hours that includes? As well, could you pay extra? Last question.. do you know how much it costs for the DJ to play an extra hour or two?

Mucho Gracias in advance!! :)

Sorry for the late response..

If you take your own alcohol it's $1,750 and you have to take your own bartenders.

We want the premium open bar for all night but it's an additional $80. What are you doing for alcohol? I'm going to ask BV if we can bring our own alcohol, if there is a charge and if we have to get a bartender.

Hi,

Sorry, I haven't been on here much and just saw this now!

We decided against the buffet and I think were are going to do the menu gourmet sit down dinner?

For the tasting:

Shrimp Bisque With Crostini Goat's Cheese and Fried Leeks

Filet mignon coated in fine herbs bathed in a creamy mushroom sauce

And one of the deserts but I can't remember what :(

We loved the shrimp bisque and we will most likely have that.

I liked the steak but truthfully my fiancee did not at all. The quality of the meat wasn't that great but I am not a big steak eater, which is why I probably didn't mind it. FI is one of those guys who is all about steaks and did remind me we did have quite a few of guests as well. So, were leaning towards another option for the main course.

Honestly, we are still up in the air! The menu is so big , it's kinda making it hard to choose!

For the alcohol, we debated on this as well! But I think were pretty solid on just going with the Medium. While the premium does have a a wider selection, we compared the two and figure the medium has a pretty good brands. Most of our friends are mixed vodka drinkers so Absolut and sky Vodka works for that lol.

We didn't get the prices for bringing in alcohol. I'd be interested to hear those prices!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
