Blue Venado Brides---post here!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I have been beating my head the past few months on what I want as far as a venue.

Villas, hotels, private beach clubs.... and ultimately, my heart keeps going back to this place.   We happened to fall onto this place after a snorkeling adventure.   It's pretty much everything we want.

We are probably having a very small and intimate wedding, 10-15 people... if that.

My question to you ladies, is how did you get your guests to this place?

I am pretty sick of all the "wedding packages" thrown together by hotels, they are one in all the same, as I imagine the buffets are.   If I can't do the blue venado, I am probably going to do a private villa wedding.

I thank you for your time!

Lydia-I totally understand your frustration!  My strong suggestion would be to get a planner on board to help you execute your vision. I love mine (Joyce of Dream Weddings) but there are some great ones on here. I am using Joyce's trusted transportation service (Rutas Prehispanicas) to transport my guests from the all-inclusive (Now Jade) to the Blue Venado on my wedding day.  I know that Joyce also has done some beautiful villa weddings as well.

Brownsugarbride, I know Joyce and I will get to this eventually but for your transportation, how much is it costing you and how many vans are you getting? I'm just curious to what transportation looks like. The FI and I were initially wanting a coach bus but from what I understand, it's a dirt road and the bus won't be able to make it down the road.

A month to go for you now, I am SO excited for you! :)

24 days to go (yikes!!).  I will look through my emails and send you a PM, but it's important to consider that I'm getting married in May vs. your November date, so there may be some differences there.  I also have about half of my guests coming that I thought would be coming, so I'm not sure how my quote will be affected.

We hired private transfer. If you have a wedding coordinator, they likely have people they work with and can arrange for you. This was the case for us. We got four 10-passenger vans. Our guests were staying all over, so we picked a central pick up/drop off spot in the center of town to make it easy. You're right, I don't think a big bus could make it down the jungle road. I'd definitely recommend private transfer- they were punctual, comfortable, professional, stopped wherever we wanted them to, and we knew the exact cost and could pay ahead. It was $100 round trip per van (which equals 10 bucks per head).

We had one van leave early (10 pm) for the grandparents and anyone who wanted to leave sooner. We ended the party at 11:00. That sounds early (at least I thought it did) but it was actually the perfect time. Consider also at most weddings guests can leave whenever they want, or even come and go as they please. But at Blue Venado, they're stuck there. You don't want it to drag on for those who are ready to wind down. When we got back into town, our friends and us kept the party going a bit longer at some bars in town, which was super fun!

Thanks Gerte016. We do have a wedding coordinator and I know she is going to arrange it for us, I was just curious to see what the other brides had did in regards to passenger vans, etc. I know we are wanting to have the party go til 1:00 am, however we want to have some of the bans coming every hour starting at 11 to pick people up with the last rounding up the drunks around 1:00 or so. 100$ is pretty good, I will have to see what our quote ends up being. Joyce has been super wonderful and I know she will be helpful with finding the best transportation for us, just was curious to see what other brides have done.

Talking to some people on these boards and wedding bee, I feel like I am not doing enough! LOL We have 7 months to go. I have kind of started on my ))T bags but have to wail till we make a trip to the states to get the rest of the stuff. I feel like I may be forgetting things but my wedding planner app says I am on track.. who knows. I just want to get things out of the way and completed and move on to the next one.. call it the OCD planner in me!!

How is everyone's else planning going?

Planning is going well, but I wish I had another month! LOL  Basically, I'm just filling in small details (picture frames, OOT bags, etc.).  I know it sounds silly, but I simply cannot find the right wedding cake topper and the wedding is in three weeks! Maybe I should just have fresh flowers on top? LOL

SEVEN months?!? You have PLENTY of time! Especially with a trustworthy planner on board. We did the majority of our planning in the last 2 months. Seriously- flowers, dessert, decor, favors, transportation- all done in the last 2 months. Though I will admit, I am very Type B. It will all come together perfectly :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
