Blue Venado Brides---post here!!

Recommended Posts

lol not at all. I guess we still have 8 months to go, just taking the wedding coordinators lead on this and just booking things as they come up - going to narrow down a DJ and entertainment these next few weeks and hopefully reserve some decor. I'm bringing down some of my own just because the savings outweigh the hassle here.. Found 2.53 cent table runners - good enough if I am using them once! And my cousin works at pier 1 and can get a discount on these lanterns I like, so why not. I am going to rent some lighting from MrsHK on here and maybe a few other things as it will start to get heavy if I bring too much down!

I've heard really great things about the shrimp bisque on here.. I'm thinking we may get that for our starter. Did you get a 3 course meal or 4 course? I didn't know if you could have a choice between 3 different options for meat...

You have plenty of time! Were only two months away and honestly we only have been knocking out some of the checklist this month and still have other loose ends to tie up.

I am thinking of bringing decor down but I am waiting for the quote so I can compare. If it cost about the same, than it minimizes how much I have to lug on the plane:)

I loved the shrimp bisque. It was really good so we are def doing that. I believe we are doing 3. Well the options, I believe you get two as the standard?

We may be doing 3 due to guests dietary restrictions. But it was something that we negotiated with them before booking. So it would be a choice of seafood, meat or vegetarian. We actually have some guests that are non meat eaters and gluten free. The gluten free is not by choice and many of the vegetarian options were pasta, so we have to provide a seafood dish.

Hi!!! I'm new here and been readign all the post regarding BV. I'm on the fence on the location. Does anyone know anything about their preferred vendor paradisus weddings. I haven't seen any reviews here. Wondering if I should find another coordinator. Does anyone know anything???

I honestly didn't know they had a preferred vendor so I am not sure if there is advantages to going with them. But we booked over a year ago so it may have changed. We have our own wedding coordinator and everything seems to be running smoothly. There isn't a charge for any outside vendors , which is one thing that sold us on the place.

I hope so. I know with summer our weekends are going to fill up fast, so I am trying to get as much done as I can now before I blink and three months go by! But I am sure it will all come together.

Are you renting decor from Mrs HK or from a coodinator?

I haven't found that out but that's good there is an option because not everyone likes chicken/steak/fish. The menu looks amazing, it will be hard narrowing it down. Definitely let me know afterwards how the food was, may influence our decision.

As far as preferred vendor, I didn't think they had any either? I got a few emails after I booked the site but that's about it. I was sold on the fact like awhiteside said above that there is no extra fee for outside vendors. That way we can bring our own in and not worry about it.

lcboyko, things are moving along.  Erica from weddingsinplaya.com is my wedding cordinator, she's AWESOME! She's on top of things and returns my emails right away.  Wedding invitations were passed out at the end of Jan/Feb.  I wanted people to get the invitation around tax season so they can plan their tax returns for the wedding :)  I made message in a bottle invitations and everyone loved them.  BF and I personally delivered them to family and friends, the invitation made people more excited about the wedding.  I included a wedding website with all the information regarding the wedding, including hotel, travel agent, prices and places to visit, etc.  I used www.wedsite.com, great website, you pay for this site but I loved it compared to the other sites I saw.   We just booked our flight and hotel with our travel agent, I wanted to book early so family and friends can follow.  I figured I would use a travel agent because she offered payment options, this way people can book and lock in today rates and pay as they want. Also, people would feel comfortable using her or at least start researching their stay.  Ohhh and to my surprise, her prices were way better than expedia and other similar sites.   Last week I went dress shopping with mom, maid of honor (sister), brides maid (niece) and we found my dress.  I'm starting to  check things off the list, I try to only work on one thing at a time and then move on to the next.  Otherwise, I'm all over the place and don't seem to get it done.

How is your planning going?

Sounds like you are ahead of the game! Busy busy :) I've seen those message in a bottle invites, they look amazing! You should post a picture here.

Our planning is coming along. Settled on the date, booked the venue, found an amazing travel agent who got us group pricing at the Bahia for our group. I built a website from scratch using wix.com, we are launching it tonight as save the dates are getting mailed out tomorrow! Booking a mariachi band and DJ this Friday and then moving onto decor... We are having to move fast as we just got engaged last month but really wanted to get married 11/11 as it's both of our favourite numbers... So lots of decision to be made. But we also have been together for 8.5 years so it's not like we are rushing into getting married hahaha. Going dress shopping here in a few weeks, finally settled on colour and bridesmaid dress... Donna morgan spearmint, letting the girls choose what style they want. Just little decisions as we move along. Next will be decor like I said and food!

What colors did you choose for your wedding? We are doing navy, mint and gold. I plan on bringing down table runners, battery powered tea lights and these adorable lanterns from pier 1... The rest I will rent. Definitely want a lot of tiki torches and light around, I think in pictures from the Blue Venado it looks gorgeous.

Did you guys settle on a time to get married? We are getting married at 4:30 so we have an hour for pictures before the sun goes down. If there are still people there, that's ok, there was going to be people watching at the resort anyway!

OMG…. Sounds like we have a lot in common. We’ll be celebrating 20 years together and the 8th is our anniversary.  We are comfortable how things are but now that we are older we start to think about the legal aspect of marriage.

Love the colors you’ve chosen.  I’m going to let the girls choose them; my only request is that they get bright colors.  I haven’t had a chance to research the décor and food, soon as I work on that I will let you know.

No time set, yet. I contacted my wedding coordinator back in November and she mentioned that the sun goes down at 5:05.  I’m considering taking pictures at around 4:30 and taking advantage of the sunset.  Planning on having a late ceremony under the moonlight, it’s supposed to be a full moon that week (hopefully it won't be overcast or raining).  For music I’m having a miramba band (xylophone music) and a DJ.  I haven’t really worked out the details and times.

I'll post the pictures of the invitation soon as i figure out how to do it.

What DJ are you using?

My niece helped make the invitations.  I also burned the edges of the invitation.

20 years together.. congratulations! That is fantastic! :) I'm all for long relationships, it's nice to be with someone for a long time and know they can leave whenever they want to but they choose to stay - I think it's more of a commitment than marriage sometimes because there are way more ways out but you both choose to stay, even during rough times. But I am so excited to marry my SO, it'll be a wonderful day celebrating with our family and friend and I am sure you feel the same way.

Let me know for sure as I am there till November 19th and I can always lend you my stuff free of charge :) I am going to sell afterwards anyway, so it's no issue lending it out if you are getting married a few days after!  I've decided on the battery powered tealight, the remote control candles they sell at costco up here and white pier 1 lanterns.. trying to figure out what to do for the main centerpiece but I have some time

Yeah I saw that it sets quickly, I am trying to move our ceremony back a bit more if I can, I know it's not private at 4:00 but I am going to see if they will let us do it at 4 so we have time for pictures. That's awesome that it's going to be a full moon eh? I  was stoked when I saw that as he proposed under the full moon in Mexico and the date we chose has meaning to us and the fact that it was a full moon too? It seems perfect! It'll be wonderful having the moon light while the party is going on!

Marimba band will be awesome! We are getting a mariachi band to play for cocktail hour, so I'm excited for that, not telling many people so they are suprised when they walk out. DJ we are going with party planet, their prices are really good and I have heard great things about them!

LOVE the invites you made, that is so creative and awesome! Your guests must of loved them! I know I would if I got that!!!. We just made a website and sent out save the dates.. might send out invitations here, we really don't want to since all the info is on the website but who knows, we might have to do for the older folk. I'm going to make a pre-wedding pamphlet and do OOT bags, so we will see... trying to keep other things down and be cost effective a bit since we invited 115 people to our wedding LOL!! I'm pretty crafty though, so I am going to make a few things

Here are our save the dates.. as you can tell we are pretty goofy. Our friend who is a photographer took this picture a few years back at a friends wedding where I caught the bouquet and the fiance caught the garter.. it just seemed too perfect not to use!

Hi ladies,

I got married at Blue Venado last month and it was absolutely perfect!!  You have picked a great spot.  I worked with Maria from Weddings in Playa who was wonderful and executed the event flawlessly.  Naiara from Naal Photography was our photography, who did a great job!  Here are a handful of pics.  Feel free to respond or private message if you have any specific questions :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
