Can someone please provide me with the list of documents that are needed before arriving in Cuba? Do documents vary depending on the country your coming from or are they all the same???? Thanks!

Hello, not sure if you have found your answer yet, but my wedding coordinator at the Blau Varadero told me she takes care of all of our documents for us. What we do need to do, though, is provide her with our info, and our witnesses info prior to the wedding. She will need copies of all of our passports, and copies of the bride and grooms birth certificates two months prior. But that's all she needs from us! Hope this helps you!

Hello, Don't we need to have our documents translated? I believe we need a copy of our birth certificate, passport and a certificate of single status. I think we need to send them to the cuban embassy. Has anyone else had to do this?

Hi! Our wedding planner takes care of everything, the documents are translated and then mailed to us back home. I've been told it will take 4-5 months to get our wedding cert. back. My WC hasn't said anything about a certificate of single status. But if either of us have been divorced or widowed, she would need those docs too. But all we do is send our stuff to her, including our witness info, and she takes care of the rest.

Oh wow, some really helpful information here.  I was wondering the same thing.  Is it true that it takes about 6 months for you to get your marriage certificate mailed back to you?  Do you have to wait to get it before you can change your name?  Sorry to pile more questions upon the original question.

Hi! Yes, my wedding coordinator said it will take about 5-6 months for us to get our marriage cert. We were married a month ago, I'm not expecting my papers until June. Yes to legally change your name, drivers license, passport etc. you will need your marriage cert.

Thanks hun!  After learning about that I'll have to talk it over with the fiancee to decide if we want to legal wedding here or in Cuba.  I think there are advantages and disadvantages to both.  I'm planning to change my last name once I'm married.

Our WC has been taking care of everything for us, it has been so easy.

All we had to do was fill out a questionnaire (one each for myself, FI, and each witness) and send copies of all of our passports. On top of that we had to send a copy of our birth certificates and if applicable would have had to send documentation of previous divorce or death certificates etc. Our WC takes these and gets them translated etc. before we get there and then all they have to do if verify our actual documents when we arrive.

As soon as you have picked your location and held your marriage date, the WC should be able to walk you though the rest. Don't worry, they do this full time all the time - they are experts! Our WC has taken all of our worries away for these kinds of things.

Cheers!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
