Hi Ladies!

Im torn between Dreams Cancun and Beach Palace.... has anyone done a site visit to both??

The gazebo looks stunning but every picture I see looks like there is a hurricane of wind during the ceremony (bridesmaids hair all over the place, bows on chairs flying like flags). Has anyone been in the gazebo for a visit and noticed the wind? Thoughts?

Hey Ashleyloriann, I thought around 3/30pm would be a nice time to have the ceromony. Has anyone suggested you make yours later? Or is it ok for a February wedding? My fiancé and I went to Cancun a couple years back in February but I can't remember much about what it was like at that time of day. I have seen some brides mention in other threads that the gazebo is quite breezy, but they've never indicated that it was a problem.... I suppose if it is quite windy then that could solve my worries of it being to hot for everyone.

Hey Tantan! We're having our wedding at 3:30 :) but ours is February 28th

It can get breezy over by the gazebo.... really I don't remember a time where there wasn't a breeze anywhere at the resort, though. It kind of comes with being right on the water, hard to avoid.

That being said, I can't wait to go back and get married there!

My coordinator nor travel agent made a comment about it being too early so I think it should be fine. I wanted mine earlier so we wouldn't have to race time for sunlight.

Our ceremony is at 5pm. We are hoping to wrap up in time to get some good sunset pics in. I think my travel agent helped with that. But I hired Dean Sanderson for photography and he said that he thought it was a good time. I've never even been to Cancun, so I have no clue what it will feel like weather wise. I'm so excited for it all, but I get overwhelmed on here! LOL

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi Ladies :)

So excited to see that someone started a 2014 thread (needed to happen soon)! We just reserved our wedding for August 2, 2014 Saturday. We're booked for 5pm ceremony at the gazebo, 8pm reception on the pool deck. Highly considering swapping out the cocktail hour and putting that money towards the reception.

We just sent out our save the dates this week and friends and family are starting to receive them which is pretty exciting, but gives me anxiety at the same time haha. Our wedding website is thelagunas.com if anyone would like to view it. Our friend who is a graphic designer set it up for us and created the logos for us as well. It's a work in progress and I'll also be blogging along the way to share details, events etc. with friends and family. I wanted to share it here to kind of "pay it forward" because all the other brides have been so extremely helpful with sharing wedding videos, costs, websites etc. So I figured, hey why not!

Our wedding is about 10 months from now. Ahhh!

Things that we've checked off the list:

1) Booked resort, set the date

2) Save The Dates sent! (we chose to go with a simple postcard that had our logos and website info for people to hop online for more details. I ordered the postcards from Vistaprint 100 for $18 or so but with shipping it ended up being a little less than $40. I thought we would save money with postage since we're sending postcards, but no I was wrong. Still the standard 0.46 stamp)

3) Got the dress (designer is Tadashi Shoji <<< super flowy, chiffon, and elegant but simple and the best part.. AFFORDABLE!)

4) Wedding party decided (more details about this will go up on the website!)

I feel pretty productive so far but it's only just begun. I'm excited for the wedding planning process and thank goodness for the internet. I don't know how brides planned weddings without online forums, instagram, or pinterest.

Anyway, good luck to everyone!

Hi fellow Brides! This website is amazing, I am getting so much information and I feel much better about my wedding. I am getting married at DRC on June 12, 2014 and I can't wait. I chose the ballroom for the reception to stay out of the heat because my family LOVES to dance! The only problem is I can't find pictures of it except for the one stock photo they provide. I want the entire ballroom because I may have over 100 people and I don't want to be crowded. Now I am wondering if it rains if they will divide up the ballroom for the other wedding on that day. Does anyone have any information about this, or any pictures of the ballroom? Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Congrats everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and have FINALLY decided on Dreams Cancun as our wedding spot. June 13,2014. We're sending in our cc authorization tomorrow and I have the Save the Dates order ready to go as soon as we're locked in. I feel like it's such short notice for guests to plan for it, so Imreally want to get the ball rolling ASAP. Looking forward to hearing about all your wedding plans, Nicole

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
