The official word from Claudia was that they don't know yet. She said new ownership could close it for a while but it isn't for sure yet. We had the option to wait it out or cancel it and rebook everything somewhere else. Given we are less than 6 months out, we chose to move resorts and are going to the Now Jade, which looks great. The process is a pain, but not much else we can do :(

I also had our wedding booked for June of 2014. Our first major wedding fiasco! The resort didn't contact me, but thankfully our travel agent got in touch with us quickly! We are in the process of switching everything over the the Dreams Riviera Cancun. My travel agent said they will honor the prices we were originally quoted as far as rooms which would be great as the Riviera is a newer resort and rooms are typically more expensive than the Dreams Cancun. I'm just thankful they had our date and time still available. .though we have a Monday date so that probably made it more likely to get the same date.  Guess I'll have to start looking at their board now!

All this freaked me out, but I spoke with my TA and email Cecilia as well as contacting Dreams 800 number. All sources say that everything is ok. I'm actually hoping to maybe get some more upgrades and stuff bc the resort will maybe have a little more lax attitude about freebies!

I'm kinda nervous about our 1/20/14 wedding but with 3 months of business after us they can't decline that soon. I hope! Would love to know if you get any extra deals! I'm hoping to get to use some extra stuff for the reception. Still waiting for Claudia to respond to my email though!

This is why I'm hoping for extra TLC. I know it seems super weird to us, but all that is really happening is a change in management. It happens ALL the time in the resort world. The girl I spoke with on the Dreams 800 number was like it the 10th one we've gone through. My TA said the same. I know they seem to be planning an extensive remodel since the word is a 6 -7 month closure it planned. But my guess is they will make it as seamless of a transition on everyone including employees. Probably will accomodate some employees at other properties for a period of time. Ultimately the new owner will still want everyone to be repeat customers.

I am hoping to get some freebies too. I am nervous that they are not going to be properly staffed in March for my wedding.  with everything happening the month after, I would assume that their employees might be either disgruntled or seeking other employment.

Good point! I actually had lunch with some hotel industry people today and thy couldn't believe they were canceling weddings over a change in management except for a remodel. This happens and the show must go on if they want to keep customers coming after! Thanks for pointing that out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
