I called my TA immediately after seeing that post. She said they may be changing management after April. She does not think my April wedding will be impacted at all. She mentioned that resorts change management frequently and most likely it will be a smooth transition. Unless they are gonna tear it down to rebuild I can't imagine it will be closed very long.

My wedding is in May. I also contacted me TA immediately and she is still trying to figure everything out. If the wedding is canceled I don't know what we will do. Our entire family is already booked and have paid.  For those with May weddings that have been canceled...what are they going to do with your money already put down and everyone that has booked?

I called the 1-866-2dreams # and asked the woman about it. She said that it was very unexpected and that no one had even an idea that something Ike this would happen. The owner decided to 'go in another direction' , whatever that means. She told me that they aren't to be taking any new bookings after April 1st. She also said we should contact the resort directly and find out what is going on. Hopefully if it is in fact shut down the brides will be notified shortly and/or they can figure out some alternate arrangement. For my part, we were going back and forth between 2 resorts so maybe we'll just switch over to the other one. Good luck

Hi Ladies! I'm new to the site, well, I finally signed up. This site has been helping me for months with wedding planning. It's been a irreplaceable resource! I'm getting married at Dreams Cancun on May 8, 2014. Well, at least I thought I was :( I just heard from my TA yesterday, too, that the resort is closing April 21, 2014 - Jan 2015. Claudia hasn't even told me yet. I've emailed and called, but nothing. Granted I guess they just found out, but I'm SO upset! Save The Dates are out, family has booked, etc. Now we have to start over. I know things happen for a reason but I'm still sad. I hope Dreams is going to give us our money back and at least refer us to a sister resort or something.

Thank you for starting this thread, it is beyond helpful. I just heard the sad news from my TA yesterday that Dreams is closing from April 21, 2014 - Jan 2015, and my wedding is on May 8. I've called Claudia and sent an email, and nothing yet. I'm so bummed. I hope we get our money back and the resort can at least point us all in the right direction. :(

I just received a call from Claudia my wedding planner that my May wedding has been canceled :crybaby2: they are shutting dreams down. Is there any other brides brides that got this horrible news?
Hi there. I'm so sad, too, we were supposed to get married at Dreams on May 8. :( I haven't even heard from Claudia yet; thank goodness my TA told me yesterday. And I got confirmation from this site, and also when I tried to book a room on the Dreams website and it wouldn't let me for dates after April 20. Did Claudia say she would give you your money back? Did she offer any sister hotels? Just curious if you don't mind sharing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
