Need of translation documents

Recommended Posts

Hi all. We are planning to get married in May 2015 - wedding location hopefully either Akumal beach or hammock location. I have been advised from thomson that some of the hotels by then may not require translation of documents! I have been advised that if they do, this can cost around £500 as we have both never been married before or been adopted or had name changes. Has anyone had to pay translation fees or not? I am from Birmingham UK. anyone from the area or even UK who has had their wedding at the Akumal please could you help/contact me :) Thanks Amy

hi Amy

You will be delighted to read there is NO requirement for any documents to be translated.

You will find reading through all the threads on here people ask the question so often and it is Thomson, First Choice etc that give out all the wrong information.

We are just back after getting married on 20 June and Jasmin our wedding co-ordinator said they wondered why so many brides continually asked the questions about translation.

When I told First Choice their information was wrong she said it was what she was told and that was that!

Hope this makes you feel better :)  Kirstin x

Hello,

If you have never been married before and has the same last name that your father then you do not need any translation.

Best Regards and Happy planning!

Thank you, I have also been told that the legal fee to pay locally is $700 USD and I would also have to pay judge/minister fees? Any idea how much?

Thanks for your help.

Have you not booked a wedding package? We had the Unforgetable package £1249 GBP and all legal, judge costs etc were included in that.

Not booked a thing yet as its so far in advance but I have had a quote for the unforgettable package with perfect weddings abroad for £850 but doesn't include minister fees or anything and I was also told that blood tests would be $190 each and also a $700 legal fee to be paid locally. When looking at the unforgettable package through Thomson it doesn't say anything about a local legal fee to pay, just that blood tests are $220 for the couple... The cost of the package is £1275... Also did you get your marriage certificate in English ? X

Hello Barnet,

The marriage certificate in Mexico is always in spanish.  Once in your country you will have to translate it for english.

Blood Test are around 250 usd. per couple but hotels usually charge more and do it per person, the same for the legal fees including Minister... price is around 700 usd. but hotels might charge more.

Hope it helps!

Happy planning!

Hi Amy

Blood test costs are separate from all the wedding packages, we were $180 US dollars for the 2 of us - this has to be paid cash at the medical centre, its located at the Hacienda within the hotel.

We were with First Choice /Thomson and the price is for exactly what is says in the package  - there are no hidden extras.   The only extras are optional ie adding extra button holes for men, depending on the flowers you want for your bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, corsages etc.

The certificate is always in Spanish / Mexican.  If you require to get it translated that will be a cost you will have when back in the UK.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
