Good afternoon Chandlyn,

I have a question about the wedding photographer. My cousin, who will also be a guest at the resort and is attending the wedding, is going to do the photography for my wedding. It is my understanding that outside photographers are allowed as long as they are a guest of the resort. Is this information correct?

Is there a fee/fine if I do not use the resort photographer?

I would just like to make sure that I properly allocate the correct amount of funds to each area of my wedding.

Your assistance is truly appreciated.

Thank you,

Chandlyn Response:

Hi Davina

For information on Photo arrangements, please contact Michael at
weddings@photoshopjamaica.com as he will be better able to assist you.

Regards
Chandlyn

So, she really didnâ€t answer my question at all and referred me to Michael. I really really donâ€t like how he responded to you girls and I would prefer to get the information from someone at the resort, not Michael, who has a contract with the resort. Iâ€m just becoming so nervous because Itâ€s my favorite cousin (who will have her brand new baby with her) who is doing my pictures and I will not have anyone giving her a hard time.

If I were you, I'd contact Michael and explain the situation. It's possible that he'll be understanding about it. But, more likely, if he's not, maybe you could contact RIU Corporate and have them get something in writing for you allowing you to "break the contract" with Photoshop. Do you have a TA that could do this for you? They may be more willing to listen if they know how much business you're bringing them (sad, but probably true!).

Ok, I'll let my TA do the work and contact the corporate office for additional information and hopefully have documentation in writing... I'm sorry, I'm not emailing Michael, I already have a very poor impression of him and a rude email from him will just make things much much worse. Thanks Lizz

You will not be breaking a contract with Michael because you didnt contract him to photograph your wedding. You are just having a family member take picures. The only time there is a fee involved is if you HIRE an outside photographer FROM Jamaica. For our wedding after we spoke with Chandlyn she told us to go to the photoshop to set things up. She has nothing to do with them as I found out, with my problem with the royal wedding package. If you have the "free" wedding you have to pay Michael 150.00 just to show up, If I didnt want him to take ANY pictures I wouldnt have paid them anything and would have gone to the shop before the wedding and told them there services were not needed. I am looking at the new contract from michael that I received last week It says for free and clasic wedding package photographer needs to be arranged prior to wedding, thats when I paid them the 150.00. Royal and Caprice it says photographer attends automatically. Thats because the 150.00 is included allready in the price of the wedding package. I am going to try and figure out if I can scan this, so I can post it.

You guys are great! I would love to see that contract. I did sign up for the Royal package, but only because I though it would give me better decorations and for the possible room upgrade. If they do not have a room upgrade available I am going to definitely go with the free package. I think Jezzygirl said the Free & Royal package have the same decorations so I’m going to have to do it myself or go with their expensive upgrades. This is sounding much better. I wont even have to deal with Michael unless I want to a video.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
