I love this idea too!!!! I am definately going to use this somehow. I am worried about transporting it back home though. The sand. maybe we can pour it in at the ceremony, move the frame with a pic in it over to the guestbook table for reception and then take the sand out and put it in a safe container for the trip home and then recreate it again back at home??

What do you gals think?

The way we did ours, was we put the sand in a cheap glass vase we bought at the Wal-Mart there, then left the frame there. I didn't want to worry about keeping it in one piece on the way home, plus I knew I wouldn't keep it displayed in an open vase (cats and worried about it collecting a ton of dust!). So, we put the sand in a plastic container, then I bought a shadow box when we got home and created this:

I really like how it turned out!

P.S. Not sure how the pic will show up, but if it's hard to see, we printed the verse that was read during the sand ceremony, then put pix of us pouring the sand, the sand, and a shell in it.

I think Kevin, My FI, and I decided what to do about this....

Kevin said he is going to make to frame (the larger one where all the colored sand is) he said it would be easy, so once he has this figured out I will let everyone know how to do it. Then we are going to do the sand ceremony in Cabo with the vases (like normal) and have the photographer take a pic of that.....

THEN when we get home and have our AHR we are going to put our work on display..... Since ahead of time Kevin will already have the frame done We will Put our wedding colors of sand into the frame (fuschia, orange, and lime green) and then the picture in the middle will be of us from the wedding pooring all of the sand into the bottles. The bottles will be on a table next to the sand filled frame and our sand ceremony pic. Does this make any sense... I know confusing, but since we could not carry a large frame like this on the plane, this was or next best idea.

I found the frame. It is at michaels, and it is in the frame section where all the shadow boxes are. The largest one they have looks about the same size shown in the picture and then there are smaller sizes also. The large size is $100, but you can always use the 40% off coupon in the mail every sunday and save $40 bucks. Then all you have to do it buy the small frame. Hope this helps anyone who is still interested.

Just to let you guys know.

I just bought everything from michaels on Sunday. They had all for their frames 50% off so I bought a "shadow box" and smaller frame which is an 8x10. After I put it all together I will post it. Hopefully it will look half way decent!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
