I am a May 2014 bride.  We are staying at the Iberostar Rose Hall Grand but we are getting married at a venue off the resort called Hummingbird Hall (our preferred date was already booked at the resort).  Have you given any thought as to how you're going to transport all your wedding stuff - namecards, programs, attendant gifts, OOT bag stuff, cake topper, toasting glasses, etc?

My fiance and I went on a 4 day vacation to Chicago last weekend and packed two suitcases just for that...lol!  We are now stressed about how the heck we're going to pack for a 10-day trip AND our wedding...YIKES!

Also, we've sent our Save the Dates, but invitations haven't gone out yet...when is everyone planning on sending theirs?

Thanks,

Kat

Hey Kat!

Packing takes practice.  I luckily had a job that required me to live two weeks on the road, so I got very good at packing! Honestly though, you might want to practice before hand and figure out what you need vs want.  Having said that, it's your wedding - if it's going to stress you out more leaving something behind, bite the extra baggage checking costs.

I'm not bringing OOT or anything of that stuff, so that makes things easier.

I'm getting married in November 2014, and we sent out our STDs in May of this year.  We aren't planning to do formal invites until the New Year, once we have a travel agent and quote locked in.  This was a big debate because we need the quote beforehand, and it's only valid for 30 days... But for the most part we are in constant communication with our guests anyways, so they will all know what's up which is nice.  We debated sending out invites first but we really wanted to list all the travel agent and flight information in them.

Hi There! I have seen other brides on here  that checked multiple bags to Jamaica and just paid the extra baggage fees.  Also, they have asked family and friends to check additional luggage and paid the fees for them.

I was thinking of trying to get a few junky suitcases at the Goodwill or something and doing that then I would just leave them in Jamaica....?

She told me we won't really get into that until about 2 months before the wedding. My concern is that if the Resort has multiple vendors to choose from for each thing(which I don't know if that is true or not), I don't want my preferred choice to already be booked because I didn't start planning the details until 2 months before the wedding.

What are you ladies doing for OOT bags? So far I have the beach totes (Oriental Trading), beach balls (Oriental Trading), travel size aloe vera (Amazon), travel size sun screen (Amazon), 2-packs of Tylenol (Amazon), Chapstick brand lip balm (Amazon), personalized label for lip balm (Etsy), and door hangers that say "Shhh! Do not disturb! We partied all night at Kristina and Cody's wedding" (Etsy). I might do a beach towel if I can find them for a good price in bulk. I don't want to waste money on bottled water, booze, or snacks since the Resort is all inclusive, but I don't feel like I have thought to fill the bags. Any other ideas? I only have about 3 kids coming but for the kids I bought sand buckets and sand toys (Target $1 spot).

P.S. I posted all of this a couple hours ago but I can't find my post, so I am posting again. If you see a duplicate, disregard! I'm new to forums!

Hi Kritinac! You are way ahead of the game!!!! althought my wedding is 6 months after yours so I guess I have time.  Your OOT bag sounds awesome! the only other things i thought about putting in there was some candy/gum and a mug of some sort.  Whenever I go to an all inclusive i bring an insulated mug b/c the drinks they make you are usually in tiny cups and I like the idea of everyone having a mug with our logo on it!

I know that the resort requires you to use someone for flowers but other than that I think the vendors are your call.  For example, I already booked my photographer.

Hope that Helps!

Katie

Insulated mugs are a fantastic idea, and something we intended to potentially purchase as a gift to every one.  Instead of OOT bags, we were gonna have the resorts have a bottle of Appleton in each persons room, with insulated mugs, and a bottle opener we make. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
