mammee bay restaurant

Just curious, if the Mammee Bay dinner is the standard with the free reception (which is what I want), what if there are three weddings that day, all of which want that restaurant at that time? That's why I'm curious as to whether we still need to "book" it before someone else does......

Has anyone just done a dinner where you can order off the menu?? I have kind of a mixed group and some people may want steak and others may not. I would like for my guests to be able to choose what they would like to eat. Anyone know if this is possible??

It is standard with the free reception if you have less than 50 people. If it is more you need a private recption which is at the Plantation restaunt, which you need to pay for. It is $500/2 hours. I dont think you need to book it. From what I have read there are multiple receptions there at one time, but most failed to notice other people because of the intimate setting.

Mammee Bay has a menu with about 6 or so entree choices, including chicken, beef and seafood/fish. There's are a few menus for the restaurant posted in the Jamaica forum.

Mammee Bay is a large restaurant with a wrap around balcony. I think most wedding parties are placed along a balcony section and there is space to have at least 3, maybe 4, semi-private balcony sections, it's very nice. So I wouldn't worry too much, but it never hurts to mention to Chandlyn that you want to have your dinner there and then she will block a section for you!

The best set up at the restaurant is the T shape, but with a large group this made speeches even harder to hear for the people at the end of the table.

A caution about the T shape - We could only fit 4 across on the top of the t. It would be possible to do 6, but no more than that I wouldn't think
So I'm wonder if Mammee's is big enough to include dancing? I can't really tell from all the pics. I'm working with a very "lean" budget and a very small group of people. I don't want to go through the expense of booking the disco and pay for a DJ for such a small group but do want to at least be able to do all the important dances and the most important dance, our 1st dance! Of those of you that have been would this be possible to do at Mammmee's without being too cramped or too annoying to the other patrons?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
