No Camera Policy for Wedding?

Holy cow this article is blowing my mind! I NEVER thought about any of this before, but everthing said is so true!  I'm going to get my FI to read this for sure.

And I am also loving the idea of asking people not to post wedding pictures on Facebook until we get back. We are staying an extra week after the wedding as our honeymoon, so we get back a week later than everyone else. I was imagining all the pictures that everyone would post, all the comments and "tags", and that's great, because they are back from their vacation and eager to share...however it was our wedding day and posting the pics before we even get to look at them and having Facebook land seeing them before us does make me sad. I am re-thinking all of this!

Unplugged ceremony but not reception. We will however have a "no FB posting" rule until the trip is over. While our pages are marked private it's never a good idea to post when you're on vacation because you're advertising you are not at home!

Yes good point, it's never a good idea to advertise you're on vacation because that screams "my house is vacant!"

We have decided to let our guests take pictures if they want, but are reminding them to remain in their seats, and be mindful of our photographer and the shots he is trying to take. I didn't want to limit people from taking their own pictures, because they might catch a moment or an angle that our photographer misses (the photographer doesn't have a second shooter) :( I think this will be ok, our group is small, family and close friends, I think they will understand.

im doing the unplugged wedding!  I saw the same article and love it.  I posted it on my wedding website.

part of the reason is my fiancé's family is camera crazy then they don't share the pictures with us!  My fi's mom took pics at my daughter 1st bday while we were singing... we obviously didn't take pics bc we were enjoying the moment.  I asked several times for the pics and 8 months later...still don't have a single pic of that important moment in my daughters life.

We will not have another situation like that.  plus, im not going to play the posing game while family plays photographer.  We are paying an amazing photographer and will have a cd with the rights to print and distribute the pics.  everyone will have their pics taken and the photos will be shared.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
