Hello Everyone at BDW!!! I'm so incredibly thrilled to be joining this forum.  I am finally engaged! I've been creeping this site for a good 4-5 months already, but wanted to wait to be engaged before introducing myself.

I have been with FI (that means Fiance right?) for 6 years, and we were best friends for 5 years prior to that. We are planning on getting married in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in January 2015 (SOOOO FAR AWAY FROM NOW).  The reason for choosing such a long engagement is that we were intent on going away, but wanted to do it January/February (when the weather is ugly in Manitoba, Canada and everyone is dying to see some sun)...and January/February 2014 is just too soon.  I stress easily, so I want to give myself lots of planning time, and enjoy the process.

I look so forward to talking with you all...I already feel like home at this forum after all the reading I've done here.  It's already so helpful, and I imagine will be even more so as I begin to plan! Hopefully I can refrain from turning into bridezilla as I am not usually a planner/picky person, but once you start thinking of these things, it's easy to convert!

Welcome and congrats!!! Since you've already been a fan of/follower of the site we don't have to tell you how awesome it is. :) And you already have the lingo down as FI definitely is fiance! And don't worry about the long engagement-- time will fly. Plus, more time to make fun DIY stuff which you will find yourself wanting to do the more time you spend here! Happy planning and keep us posted on your plans!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
