When Do You Give Your Guests Their OOT Bags?

Recommended Posts

The charge is crazy! I have been to plenty of weddings where they have the welcome bags at the concierge or front desk, and as you check in they give you one. It's really not that hard lol. I'm torn between just paying the $4 our resort charges per bag, or bringing all 22 bags to the welcome dinner. I really don't want to have to worry about distributing bags to everyone ugh.

Good thread...I'm having anxiety thinking about bringing everything down - OOT bags, wedding favors, programs, table numbers, escort cards, card boxes, cake toppers, etc.  Any recommendations?  We are getting married in Jamaica and I've heard that shipping things there can be unreliable, so I don't want to do that.  My fiance and I may pack a few extra bags and ask some of our family members to each take an extra bag for us...

Great thread... I haven't given this much thought yet.  I am sort of collecting things and then will put it all together and see how much space things are going to take.  Our wedding is on a Thursday and we are arriving the Sat before and have guests arriving each day leading up to the wedding.  I think I will have my mom bring some things in her bag Sunday and take as much as I can Saturday.  Then I think we are going to just pay to have the hotel leave them in the rooms.  The problem is that not everyone's bag will be the same because some are kids, etc... I have to figure that out.  :(

We also wanted to ship them ahead of time and have them ready for everyone when they checked in but it was cost prohibitive so our thoughts were to have the room list and deliver them that night to everyones rooms.

My MOH ended up having to do it because I got blisters and couldn't

This was one of the reasons aside from cost that I considered when I was thinking of not doing OOT bags.  I really want to do them, but it seems so complicated.  I definitely don't want to pay the resort to do it and we're not having welcome cocktails or a welcome dinner.  I was thinking of just giving them out on the day of the wedding (having my bridesmaids or the wedding coordinator do it).  That way everyone is in one place so I know everyone got theirs.

My issue is that I have guests arriving 3 days before us and others arriving after (not all in one group). We are planning a beach party for everyone to meet but that is going to be 3 days after we arrive and I don't want to wait that long. My fiance wants us to have the hotel deliver them so it is one less thing we have to do once we are there but I'm not sure about the cost, plus each bag is slightly different.

I'm thinking that I will get my sisters help and hand out as many as I can the first night and then deliver the rest as the guests arrive or at the latest during the beach party.

I got everyone a beach bag, chap stick, a personalized tumbler and toys if there are kids in the family.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
