Sandals "photography partners" and a few other ?'s

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm new here and just booked my wedding at Sandals Negril in July 2014. My first phone meeting with Nina is in August, so I'm attempting to compile a list of questions now. I am super scared about having photography done by sandals photographers. I am a pretty low key bride but the ONLY thing I care about is amazing photos to look back on! I see that they now offer outside photographers that they contract with. I'm wondering if anyone has used them and if they were decently priced? My wedding is booked for 4pm (couldn't justify a $600 fee for a wedding 1 1/2 hours later). I might be making it earlier because I am reading that it rains every afternoon in July :( I really really wanted some sort of sunset photoshoot which also makes things tricky... If I use sandals can they do two different sets of photos? Obv an outside photog won't be there all day, prob only a few hours. Decisions decisions! Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm booked with Alan Smith, so far he seems very professional, we had Skype chat where we discussed all details. I will post a review when we get back. He is definitely better than photographers Sandals offer. I requested samples of their photography from WC and they were atrocious, like pictures your guests would take with their cell phone camera, absolutely not worth the package.

I ended up booking with Misha Earle Photography. I called sandals and asked the prices of each "partner" photographer and the prices were OUTRAGEOUS (as one would expect). We plan on leaving the resort directly after the ceremony and taking photos for 3 hours ending with a TTD shoot at sunset! She has been great with communication and her portfolio/style is exactly what I'm looking for!

I booked Alan Smith and just received my pictures, they are beautiful. However we had photosession with on site photogs and didn't like it. We picked only 2 pictures after 30 mins photosession. If you'd like samples of mine I can email privately. AS was $3100, 4hrs and we received around 700 shots.

Hey Mary .. where did you find the names? When I go to Sandals' site, it still says outside photographers are not allowed ... unless I am going to the wrong page?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
