Kukua Beach Club, Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

Since there is only one other thread dedicated to this venue, and the title includes a question mark, I decided that people may need a more clear and concise forum on this awesome place!

I am getting married here on July 4th, 2013. It is literally a one minute walk from RIU Palace, Punta Cana. I of course will have to give more details once I actually go to DR, but for now I can tell you this.

If you are looking for an intimate venue, off the resort, with an amazing wedding coordinator, this is the place you are looking for!

Bego is amazing, seriously, she is so fast with answering emails, like within hours of my asking she has answers for me. She decorates beautifully, check out the Kukua Beach Club facebook page, they post tons of photos!!!! She has made my life so easy!

I was originally getting married at the RIU Palace, but found the wedding coordinators were taking weeks to get back to me, and I just was a nervous wreak about it. I found Kukua, and never looked back.

I cannot wait until I get to meet Bego and celebrate our day with her and her staff.

The day is done! I have just had my beautiful wedding at Kukua Beach Club on July 4th, 2013. It was everything I have been dreaming about for over a year! Bego is incredible! She planned every detail, she gave me exactly what I wanted. She gave me my dream wedding.

We did a tasting a couple of days before the wedding (you have to try the mushroom penne!!!!! mmmmmmm!) where we tasted most of our dishes, including our welcome drink, which was delicious!

The day of the wedding, we arrived and Bego had everything going, I felt comfortable that it was going to be a smooth day. We figured out the music, I brought my Ipod with Wedding DJ app with all of our songs arranged. We took photos and waited for my groom to arrive.

The ceremony was beautiful and perfect. I loved every minute of it. Dinner was amazing (lobster or mushroom penne) and the cake was amazing too. Kukua met every standard I could have ever asked for. Don't hesitate to schedule your wedding here!!

PM me with questions!

Here are some photos from Kukua!

Congratulations!  It looked amazing!

Did you have to take ANY decorations with you?  I am looking for almost a list of things you HAVE to bring (guest book, cake topper, etc)..

I am torn between having the reception on the beach at Dreams Palm Beach or having it at Kukua..  I feel it would almost be worth it to pay for the alcohol and transportation to have it better decorated than the resort?

It was amazing! We brought the cakes stands, the bride and groom chair decorations, and the parasols and ribbon wands. Really Bego did all of the decorations.

As far as guest book, I always thought guest books are weird, so I did some fun postcards off of vistaprint, and had people write advice or a memory on them. I will make a cool little collage in our scrapbook.

I will say that having my wedding and reception at Kukua was an amazing decision! I would not change it for the world. it was intimate and awesome!

Reception at Kukua

I cannot put into words how beautiful and amazing my wedding dinner and reception was at Kukua Restaurant Beach Club. I am seriously at a loss for words. If you are looking to have the best, most memorable day of your lives in the most stunning location Kukua is your place. When I arrived at Kukua on my wedding day tears instant formed and I got goose bumps all over because the atmosphere, decoration and setting was more than I ever dreamed. Here is our story…

I always knew I wanted a destination wedding and had no clue that venues like Kukua existed. After following a facebook group on the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana I thought I wanted to have my wedding there at the resort. I was told the only location for my dinner was the Mexican restaurant (inside) or their ball-room (blue carpet and looks awful!). I immediately started searching for other options and came across Kukua Restaurant Beach Club on Trip advisor. I contacted Begonia (Bego for short) and instantly felt connected to her and reassured. Over the next 8 months I communicated through email planning my wedding. I sent Bego pictures of ideas and decorations I liked and asked her so many questions. She was so professional and reassuring and always responded within 24 hours. Towards the date of our arrival to Punta Cana I was emailing Bego on a daily basis, and she responded to every email and never appeared annoyed. Even when I was apologizing for bombarding her with my emails she assured me that there was no need to apologize and she understood how important marriage and weddings are to brides and grooms.

The day after we arrived we went for our taste testing. The food portions were unbelievable large and everything was delicious. We had their grilled seafood platter and the beef dish. The appetizer was also delicious. Their seafood is one of the tastiest I have ever had. My husband, who is a chef by trade, was extremely impressed by the presentation and taste. Before our taste testing we went over some decoration details, such as white table cloth vs ivory, and centre pieces. I also brought with me some of my own decorations and we went over each piece. This process was very professional and I did not feel rushed. My wedding ceremony was to take place at 11 am at the resort. I was not happy about this time but this was the only time the resort said they were available. An 11:00am ceremony meant getting up really early to start make up, hair, and pictures. Bego agreed that the time was too early and could see the stress on my face. She called the wedding coordinator at the resort and made arrangements to change the time to 3pm. Bego also made arrangements with my photographer, videographer, and officiant. She truly is amazing at event planning and made sure all the arrangements were made. The garden and beach Gazebo at the Majestic Colonial resort looks beautiful. In all honesty, it looks nicer than the gazebo at Kukua and because of this I stayed with Majestic for our ceremony. BIG MISTAKE!!! Our ceremony was horrible. Our guests were told to arrive at 2:30, the music and the gazebo were not set up until after 3. Our ceremony was to start at 3. My guests were sweating in their seats for longer than was necessary because they ran really late. My biggest regret was not having our ceremony at Kukua. Looks can be deceiving!!!  Our ceremony was a disaster and I know this would not have been the case if we were at Kukua. If I could do it all over again, I would have the ceremony AND reception at Kukua.

During dinner, no glass went empty. As soon as someone was finished their drink, a waiter was at their side filling it up. Bego never took her eyes off me that evening and if I looked unhappy or worried she immediately was at my side. For dinner, we decided to go with half portions of grilled seafood and beef. I knew that two of our guests didnâ€t like seafood and I thought they would just pass the seafood to their husband and eat the second main course. NOPE, they called Bego over and informed her they didnâ€t was seafood. Bego apologized and said she made a mistake and made them a full order of beef. Bego didnâ€t have to do this, but she did. Bego went above and beyond. I have tears writing this because she truly made my day so special. I will never forget her. She even had a basket in the bathroom full of personal hygiene products for any of my guests.

If you are looking for an intimate, private and beautiful reception look no further!! Honestly, you will not regret choosing Kukua Restaurant Beach Club for your wedding. My wedding at Kukua exceeded my expectation and I am so grateful. My guests all raved about the reception and said it was so classy and beautiful, the nicest wedding they had ever been to. • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
