Is anyone using a travel agent for their Palace Resorts wedding group bookings?

Recommended Posts

I'm in the same boat...stressing right now.   this is what we were just quoted (incudes transfers) for April, 2015- Aug 2015

Our problem is we have to get married in late June or early August.  Some of my family can't travel until then due to kids in school and my fiancé can't get time off in July.

                                                     SGL         DBL       TPL          CHLD

superior deluxe garden view        382          211        165              58

superior deluxe ocean view         408          224         178              58

concierge level                             458          249

our problem is there are cheaper resorts, but we are having about 60+ guests.   So far we have 48 that have confirmed they are going...   we were hoping that we would get a good rate so everyone will want to book thru our group booking so we could qualify for free unlimited events.   Now seeing these prices I'm freaking out!

Every place else that has cheaper rates only include a small amount of guests in their wedding packages.  Once you add up the cost for each person over that it jumps drastically.

we are on such a tight budget.   with these prices I doubt most of my guests will book through our group link.  About 12-14 of our guests work in the travel/airline industry which we typically can get a deep discounted travel employee rate.   So I'm pretty sure they all won't book through our group..   plus my cousin who is a brides maid I already know will be complaining about it and probably stay off site.   That's another problem they only allow you 20% non-resort guest day pass of your wedding guest total.   So if we have 50 wedding guests we can only give out 6 non-resort guest passes.

Does anyone know if Beach Palace, Hard Rock Riviera Maya is cheaper around that time in June?

We love what palace/HR offer just wish pricing was little better or at least just under $200/ night per double..

I know Azul was offering a similar deal this year for so many rooms booked, but for the dates we need and the fact we are having two teens ages 15-16 and two pre-teens age 12yrs old their prices were even higher...

My TA is handling everything. We've had a few people check Expedia and saw the cheaper rates, but my TA took those and showed the groups dept (since it was the same itinerary with flights all) and they price matched it. So far, we have 24 people booked for 66 room nights and 2 booked but they have a time share at MP so it doesn't count toward our nights. We just sent our Save the Dates out, so I'm anticipating having at least 15 more couples reserve... our date isn't until Dec, so they have plenty of time :)

We are also using a TA for our travel and have asked all of our guests to use her....

WOW! You already have 24 ppl booked!!! I'm jealous!! I only have 3 booked right now!!! :(  My friends and family are slow I guess!! Although, my wedding isn't until Jan 2015 but I was hoping to have more people book soon!!!

Congrats on your wedding and happy planning!

I'm using a BDW TA. I just cross-checked with Expedia and the rates my TA provided are better than Expedia's rates for my week. Her rates are also better than the rates the resort tried to charge me for a group block.

@@misbosox I've blocked rooms at BP for the end of April/beginning of May and they are minimally cheaper than you're moon palace rates, nothing I would swap resorts over.

Thanks for all the helpful info everyone!

What is the best time to book/get my guests to book? I'm planning for Aug 2015 wedding and the rates my TA is giving me are outrageously high. I'm hoping to wait til the Fall to book, is that a bad idea?

If it's a quote... You can try and wait for deals with no guarantee that you won't run into a sell-out, but if you have a contract you want to make sure your guests book during the contract window or you will lose perks and rate.

Compare your 2015 August contract to 2014 August pricing and see if it's way off- if it is- find a new TA.

Hi All, I saw that Costco has has better deals with their packages as compared to our room block and booking the flight separately.  I'm working with a TA and she has been very responsive, but unfortunately, she said they do not price match membership deals. Now I'm worried everyone will book through Costco since its so much cheaper especially with the holiday deals going on right now. Does anyone know why guests who book through a different source don't count toward wedding benefits? All I keep hearing is that "you have to book through one source" but all the guests are staying at Moon Palace and bringing in money to the resort one way or another. Just wanted to get clarification. Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
