Hi everyone! I am fairly new to this site and wanted to reach out and see if I can get some feedback, suggestions, etc! I am getting married in May 2014 in Riviera Maya, Mexico but am having SUCH a tough time deciding on a resort, so I would love to hear any feedback yall have!! We are considering Excellence Riviera Cancun and Secrets Maroma Beach, but am open to other ideas!! I have heard really good things but also not so good things about both so I am not sure!! Thanks!! Andrea

welcome to BDW! I've heard good things about both resorts, but haven't been to either of them. There are reviews here, and threads for both too. Take a look at their wedding packages online, and let that info help you decide which one is the better fit for you. Good luck and happy planning!

Hello!

I too am getting married in Riviera Maya Mexico on May 17, 2014! We chose Azul Beach resort. I've been working with a travel agent so far and she's helped me make several decisions. If you don't have a TA, you may want to consider getting one, they travel to resorts and can give you great firsthand advice.

  • 1 year later...

Hi,

I am looking to get married next year and we are thinking at the end of May 2015. Would you be kind enough to let me know if the weather was nice in May?

Thank you so much :)

May is the start of rainy season... You may want to look on weather almanacs to see what history shows, but this year was usually wet with heavy rain right at the start of the season. I was there June 4 and taking to locals they said the amount of rain this year was unusually heavy right at the start of the may/June season.

Welcome to the forum, Gwenbubu, and Congrats on your upcoming destination wedding next May!!!

Here's a link to our webpage telling about usual weather conditions for May and also sunset times for optimal photo conditions :) .....Mexico Weather   ...tho it's good to remember, Mother Nature will do what she does! and really you can find beauty in every possibility :)

"MARCH, APRIL, MAY

Things start heating up mid-February and by April you can be roasting on the beautiful beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Water temperatures have not caught up but outside temps have started to rise.

The “rains” start in April peaking in July-August. This is a wonderful time to travel because after “Spring Break”, things calm down until the summer travel season starts in late June. Water temps are warm enough to swim comfortably; it’s hot but not “July-August” hot. Weather-wise, it’s a great time of the year to go.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
