Anyone else about ready to call it all off?

Recommended Posts

I went through something similar.  As soon as we got engaged in December 2012 my parents got a little excited and started telling a ton of people to pack their bags.  We are doing a large AHR in June and getting married in Mexico in April.  One thing I have found is that while people may be "all about it" and say they are definitely going early on....when it comes down to it when the deposit on the room is due you will lose quite a few.

I feel lucky... our parents are very supportive that we just want a small DW wedding with them and a few close friends. I struggle with what other people will think when they find out and aren't invited. Hopefully they will understand and respect that its our wedding and that how we wanted it.

I say, do whats important to you. Its your day and its the happiness that you desire.

My fiance asks me everytime I start to stress out "want to elope?" That seems to get my head back on track and helps to settle down all the nervous butterflies. No matter who comes, where your wedding is, at the end of that day you will be married to the man that has your heart and that's what is important or least that's what my friends keep telling :D

Happy planning,

Kristen.

Geez. Makes all of our stuff seem pretty small in comparison and we did end up just the two of us. No witnesses, no bridal party, nothing and nobody lol We had the resort wedding coordinators as our witnesses. Yeah two strangers signed our marriage licence lol  But you know what? We had a great time. They treated us like royalty I think because they felt sorry for us lol, and we had got married, which is what it was all about in the first place. Then everyone that said no showed up for our AHR, we got all the family pictures and it turned out alright.

Sometimes life is just that. Life and you just have to go along with it. I got what I wanted and that was marrying the absolute love of my life!

Wow I'm so sorry to all your brides who are going through headaches, stress and drama! That is not what you need when you are planning the most exciting even of your lives. I agree with the ladies above, stick to your guns, remain true to yourselves and do what you want! It's your day and your pocketbook! You don't want to start your lives in debt either.

Please keep us posted, we're here to help and support you!

Ladies, hold firm - this isn't the end of the world! Just don't let anybody wrench YOUR big day away from you. It will go terrible if your heart's not in it, or if you're actively hating it. Whether it's parents or someone else who is trying to take control of your wedding and negatively affect it, you can't. Let them. Do it.

Be firm, or even harsh, but you'll be happy you dealt with it sooner rather than later. Good luck!

You only get married once (hopefully) make it about you (and your hubby) and what YOU want, not anyone else!  Or else you won't be happy

    • Another option is to find an app that allows for group talk. This Wedding Party App looks pretty neat. https://apracticalwedding.com/wedding-party-app/
    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
