Playa del carmen-just the 2 of us

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Really need your help. My fiancée and I are planning to get married in Jan 2014. I want a simple beach ceremony in playa del carmen followed by a nice dinner for just the 2 of us. I've been researching and have found my own photographer and hair and make up artist. I've been in contact with dream weddings riviera maya who have responded with prices for the minister, arch etc etc. Just unsure as to how it all works? Do they then charge me for them organising it all? Am I allowed to say who I want as my photographer and hair/make up? Also if you do it this way does anyone know any resorts/hotels that are happy to have external vendors come in with no/only a small fee? Or do people think it would be best to pick a Place and use their wedding coordinator? I want someone to organise it all for me But I want to pick who I use if this makes any sense? It's all seeming very overwhelming at this stage, and as we aren't telling anyone until we return it's hard not having people to help :( The big resorts that a lot of people use don't suit me as it is just myself and my fiancée so all I'm really after is hair/make up, bouquet, beach set up, minister, photographer and dinner afterwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

You might check into some of the big resorts, even if it's not your first inclination. Some of them do free weddings for the couple, with basically everything you said you wanted, if you just stay in a certain room class for a certain number of nights. They'll probably still charge you a fee for your photog, but if you go offsite to your makeup/hair artist, they can't charge you for that.

For example, I got married at the Royal in Playa - they did have a free package, but they also charged $350 for an outside photographer. it would include your ceremony setup, coordinator, bouquet, dinner, etc. though:

Just something to consider!

We are having the same problem. The resorts offer wedding deals for groups. Since its just the 2 of use I really dont want to pay for dinner for 10 people and set up cost for people that wont be there. If you had any luck please let me know. I was told you can leave the resort and go to a public beach to avoid the resort fees

Hi Laura,

As we just posted for Tammy, packages are tough as they usually limit you to using predetermined vendors. There are many planners in the area that you can hire to plan your wedding "a la carte". It's what we specialize in!

Here is a link to some of our happy couples who decided to elope, on a budget.

Hey Laura,

For an intimate personalized wedding, I would also recommend going off-resort!  There are so many boutique hotels in town and sooooo many super romanitc restaurants.  With the help of a local wedding planner you could get everything you are looking for!

Happy Planning!  Looking forward to hearing about how it all turns out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
