Edyta - No need to stress! Just put on some music (iPod with speakers form home?) and if people want to dance they will! If they don't want to dance then that's okay too :)

Sarah, I have only been to one wedding where there was no dancing. It was a mid-day outdoor wedding and the couple actually danced a "first dance" together, then that was it! It seemed very low-key and I felt like I kept waiting for something to happen that never did. However, it suited most of the crowd and nobody seemed to mind. That being said, let me state that just as I tell everyone else, it's your wedding (and a destination wedding no less!) which means you can do whatever YOU want. If you don't want to dance with your hubby, then don't! If that's not a place you want to spend your money, don't worry about it. If you want to know my personal opinion, I just can't picture a wedding without at least the opportunity to dance so I'm having dancing whether we end up with 5 or 50 guests. I think people will be a little less inhibited since a)it's Mexico! and b)free drinks in Mexico, so I think the small group we will have will still get their groove on! But, do what feels right to you...

Edyta, my guests and I can always come crash your reception if you want...lol

hehe- I feel the same way too, so if you aren't too busy on the 7th you better stop by! I can't wait- it's going to be so much fun being there at the same time!

I don't think no dancing is strange at all. Ive been to several DW with smaller groups that did not have dancing. There was music & people could dance if they wanted, but everyone was just having a great time talking & enjoying the evening. Im having around 20 people & I will have light music but no dancing required. FI & I will probably not dance & we have NO SONG. Dancers will dance if they want, but no stress for you.

I think you will be fine with no dj, but I would still play a good mix of music in case people want to dance. And maybe think ahead and plan to go to a bar or club afterward that has dancing. That way you don't have to pay $ for the DJ, but your guests that want to dance can still do so.

Sarah,

I am actually having my dinner and no dancing.

A couple of years ago my brother got married in the islands and we were there for the entire week. We partied hard all week and the wedding was Sat night. They had dinner and during dessert some people got up an spoke (unplanned) and then some of us went out for drinks after. They had music playing in the backround and it was perfect.

  • 3 months later...

We are having an 11am ceramony and will only have the mariachi band during reception and cd/ipod music during the brunch. We figured we'd be back in our suits and in the pool by 2 (staying at Excellence Riviera). We'll have about 40 close friends/family members with us. I'm still looking for advise on CD's or song list that would be good during brunch.

If that is the total cost for the sound system, I would go for it! We are going to have to pay around 800 just for the sound system alone just to plug in our ipod! They apparently charge per hour at our AI resort.... sad.gif

You will be happy that you do some sort of music, it doesn't have to be formal by any means! Let us know what you decide!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
