a reception with NO DANCING????

Recommended Posts

Leigh, have you asked claudia about bringing your own IPOD system? I was thinking of buying the BOSE system to hook up our IPOD, that way at least we're getting something for our money. We are having a small group too, so we don't need anything too loud.

Well, we havn't asked her if we can do that yet......we are actually gonna see if she will work with us on any of the pricing for this sort of stuff....TA is working on this for us. We already have 35 people attending so far, so we know for a fact that we want "loud" music to celebrate with! I will let you know what we find out.

I think I'm going to check into this, I'll have to put it on my list of things to check in my next email. My brother is also in a band and does a lot with sound systems & musical equipment, so I'm sure I could get him to handle the initial IPOD stuff for me. And I've heard the bose system sounds soooo good, so I'm sure it will be loud enough for our small group. I'll let you know if I find out anything before you do.

I'm still looking for advise on CD's or song list that would be good during brunch.
How about music from the Gypsy Kings. The music is fun and festive (and in spanish) but not so upbeat that people will feel obligated to have to get up and dance. I think it's just the right balance so that it's not boring, slow dinner type music, but more upbeat brunch music. If you aren't familiar with their songs you can go online and check them out.

I love the Gypsy Kings. I think they have great music.

I am not having dancing at my wedding. Since my wedding will be a total of about 25 people, I am just going to have a simple dinner and then some live music. If people want to dance they can. I am not a big dancer so it really doesnâ€t bother me.

So, I am not a bride to be, but I was married 15 years ago. We had made a collection of our favorite songs and made tapes of them

(before CDs). We were married on the roof of a high-rise building in Lowertown St. Paul. After the ceremony we turned on the music and people danced as they wanted. It was cheap, it was what we wanted, and it was perfect! I think we had about 60-75 guests.

Cool Liz! Good to hear that idea has worked.

We are planning to use our ipod & speaker for our dinner & dancing (or partying) music. I put my FI in charge of creating the playlists. This morning I was on his laptop uploading photos & came upon his "loose collection" of songs. I really really hate to say this, but I'm going to have to delete at least 5 songs on that list....what was he thinking?? I don't want to hurt his feelings, but wow...wow is all I can say....

Well, I don't even know the name of some of them. The worst was an old song from Ace of Base I think "all that she wants is another baby...." Umm, what? Also some random country songs - he doesn't even like country. Who is this man I'm marrying??

I think he's just been copying songs into this folder as he comes across them - I hope he plans on combing through them...I will encourage this.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
