How important is reception length to YOU and YOUR PARTNER?

Recommended Posts

@@tygrrlily It's an option my resort offers. They set up, clean up, do decorations, light party snacks, and we have a private bar with bartenders. It's an ipod hook up system which is fine with me because we know the music we want played. Price depends on # of guests. So for us it's like a couple thousand- 50 guests. I thought that was good.

a beach party is a fantastic idea! I think we will play it by ear and if our guests want to stay and dance, we stay... if they want to  move to a different venue, we move! I want our guests to feel value for their choice to attend our DW and it's also great leveraging tool to lshould we wish to leave the party on our own accord... lol

We hope to party until at least 11, although, I've heard that weddings end earlier in Jamaica from my Fiancé ( he's Jamaican). My Irish guests will definitely be up for a party.... :-D so we'll see how it pans out on the day..... :-)

  • 1 month later...

I'm hoping to do a 6 hour reception. It costs extra ($60/per table per hour I think). I just want our wedding day to feel special and different. We're going to be at the lobby bar/club probably every day that we're there so I want the wedding to feel like a separate event.

6 hours is awesome! i only wish I could but we need to cut it at 11:00 pm. Honestly, who stops partying at 11:00? Anyways, I'm thinking of seeing if we can arrange transportation to downtown to continue the party for those that want to. It's too bad because was really looking forward to dancing in my dress until 3:00 am :(. Maybe I'll still take my veil haha. I just don't want it to feel like any other night out.

I had originally planned to extend the reception... but after visiting the resort and seeing weddings TAKE OVER the resort "club".... that's my new plan to save money =) ... I hated it as a regular paying guest but for the money they charge per-hour to extend the reception, SO worth it.

I think as long as we are able to get done all the traditional things (like dances, toast and dinner) everyone will most likely be exhausted by the end of the festivities. Plus most of my guest will be partying all wk at the resort.

We are having a cocktail hour at 5pm, and then reception starts at 6pm and ends at 11pm. Once that is over, we plan on heading up to a lounge at our resort that has a DJ and taking it over with our group (Whomever is left) and making our own party for a few more hours.)

Did this really happen? That's awesome. Our site visit was SOO quiet but I know it was low season when we went. We're worried about the night life on site at BP, but we're hoping December will be a lot busier

Was it at the sports bar?

I've seen this happen on past trips too! And why not! Haha- why pay a DJ and a bar extension if you can just head to the disco! Choose a location on the resort that has a DJ at night and away you go! If others join the party... Who cares at that point!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
