How important is reception length to YOU and YOUR PARTNER?

Recommended Posts

Hey all! I wasn't quite sure where this topic would go, so I will likely post in another thread as well. My fiancé and I are currently discussing the length that we would like for our reception (ie length of liquor and dj/music services). We would like a private area either poolside et cetera. However it seems like most packages include only three hours of service. This usually brings people to 10:30 PM. Then everything comes down in terms of reception set up. In my opinion it seems like people would definitely want to party way past 1030. What is your opinion about how important a longer reception is? Do many of you plan to go to the resort club to party after 1030? Or will you be extending the reception because you really want more time alone with your reception party? I've heard that some resorts have some great clubs which could be an option if we could get a large group in. I'd love to get some feedback on this. I don't know a whole lot of people who have done DW's so it's great to see what other couples prioritize with regards to reception! - Katie xo :)

Our's will only be until 10:30 as well. Having been to the resort, we know we can go to the Desires Sport's lounge after with those who still want to party.

Does make me sad that the party can't go on all night long, but I guess that is the downside to having a DW, your limited due to noise restrictions that you wouldn't get with a hall at home.

I"m having an off-hotel site wedding and the venue rental for everything is only for 6 hours. Each additional hour is $200usd. We've added one more hour on so that we can continue our dancing and were told that if we want it longer on the day of we can extend it and pay then as well.

If we did a hotel wedding we'd just take what was offered in the package and then go to the club. I'd do something like change into a cute white club dress and just keep the party going. Why pay more for a DJ and drinks when the hotel offers it and it's the same people who will be there as those who were at your wedding.

  • 3 weeks later...

Mine was 3 hours, ending at 8:00pm believe it or not all of our groomsmen were far to drunk to continue partying for several more hours.  We Continued the party at a lobby bar then the disco, groomsmen did not make it to the disco.  Its an all inclusive resort, why pay to extend when you can continue drink and dancing anywhere on the resort with out additional cost.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
