A little thing I like to call "Operation Wedding Dress" (aka, my dress is too small... but it won't be soon!)

Lucy,

I am sorry that the seamstress made you feel so badly.  It's really unfortunate when people don't think of clients as actual other human beings!!!  Know that you look awesome!  Continue what you have been doing with your diet and exercise for the next two weeks and go to that appointment knowing that the seamstress knows what she is doing with the dress (but not how to handle talking to people!).  If she takes the dress out a little it's ok!  There's nothing wrong with that - you want the dress to fit amazingly well and to feel comfortable, sexy, and AMAZING!  Remember, no one needs to know what size the dress is or how much it needed to be taken in or out, they are all going to think you look phenomenal!

When you go for your appointment, ensure the seamstress has you sit in the dress.  My seamstress said many forget to have brides do that and the dresses are so tight around the hips that brides can't sit or kneel for their wedding ceremonies and receptions!  Though I wanted my dress to be super tight around the hips to show off my figure (oh yeah!), I also want to make sure I am able to sit in the dress!!!

Where are you having your dress altered?

I ate like a pig on Monday after the race, and now need to get my diet back on track, now that I'm not training for the marathon any more!

My legs need a rest this week, but I think next week we're going to dive back in to Insanity - and we'll be four weeks out from our departure to Mexico!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!  Running a marathon must be such an accomplishment!  You must feel like a million bucks! (maybe not literally, but emotionally?)  Super excited for you that it's only 4 weeks away until you leave.

This saturday will mark the one week until we leave!  Today is two weeks until the wedding.  Ahhhh!!!  Panicking here a bit!  Lately I have been feeling super fat.  I tried on all of my bathing suits and feel horrible in them. :(.  This is probably just me being super hard on myself.  I know once I get down to Mexico I will feel great about my body, but man it sucks not feeling hot right before you leave!!!

I realize now it was a pretty ballsy move, but I am determined to make it fit.  I WILL fit into that dress!

Since I don't know you all, I feel like I can tell you they wanted me to buy an 18.

EIGHTEEN!?!?!  No way Jose!  I ordered a 14 which is STILL bigger than any other clothing item I've ever bought, but I guess wedding dresses are just like that.

Turns out it would fit in the bust and the hips, I'm just a little too round in the middle.  From what I've read, good news that's the easiest stuff to lose!

I want to lose even more, so I can feel great in beach wear, but one step at a time.

So far, I'm eating way healthier, getting exercise a few days a week at least and trying very hard to stop drinking calories.

I'm open to any tips or suggestions or stories of success (or failure for a dose of reality!).  If you're on the same mission, I welcome you to keep in touch with me - I have great support with my friends and I'll be happy to support you too, we can do this together!

Hezmshaw! As the starter of this thread, I'm very curious to hear how your wedding went! Just remembered that it was a few days ago! I hope you're having a fabulous vacation and that everything was perfect. I'm sure you looked fabulous in your dress! Congratulations!

Hi ladies!! Still on my honeymoon but had to share an experience witg you all. My wedding was 5 days into our trip. After day one I could already feel my body changing from all the salty and high calorie food. So I really watched what I ate and tried to drink as much water as possible, and swan every morning. I also did pushups, situps and squats in my room. I am so glad I did!! When my sisters were lacing my dress they couldn't make it any tighter, the corset was as small as it could go! I didnt realize until the next day when my husband (!!!) Was doing the dress up for our ttd photos how tight it was, I was amazed. I had to share some pics with you all who have been so supportive!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
