Ice wine... you gotta try Maple Dessert Wine one day... omg, best thing EVER!

Jenny, I'm getting married at a Dreams in Mexico too, which one??

I picked Mexico because we wanted a destination wedding since our families don't live close, especially mine, they're in Nova Scotia and I'm in Alberta.  We chose Mexico for two reasons, one because of price (we considered St Lucia but too pricey) and two because my FH's mother is from Acapulco, so it's special to her.

I'm sure I missed a lot here... so.. um... feel free to catch me up.  I laughed a lot reading, which was great since today was so crappy at work.. ugh.

Hi Heather!!!

Ohh, I will have to try that ice wine.... sounds good. Anything Maple is ohhh so Canadian hahaha.

I'm getting married at Dreams PV- I see your getting married at Dreams Tulum! Amazing :D Love Dreams :)

I love your reasons for picking Mexico. So cute!

Congrats on reaching 150 posts! It is well worth it....amazing to be able to open the templates and stuff!

Yep, I know about LAX, Thousand Oaks and Irvine (Irving is in TX) :). Haha I'm glad the TV show could help you. lol...It's funny bc a TV show helped me understand some Canadian things.

I am following the unique ceremonies- thinking of doing the sand ceremony in MX. Really like that.

I like that you wanted there for be a foreign country aspect to your wedding/ engagement! I just wanted to get engaged haha. Friends came and went, met people, got engaged, got married, and were having babies and here we were, still dating like we were in high school. I was about ready to throttle him. But he finally got a clue and realized just because his friends weren't doing it, doesn't mean he doesn't have to do it... lol

Yeah, I definitely think it will be more of a headache..... but if my bestie really can't come, I am thinking of telling her, so she doesn't feel so left out about not being there. I havent decided on that yet either.... again, as time goes on I will see how I feel about it!

In California, I flew into LAX, and my aunt and uncle lived in Thousand Oaks? They now live in Irving, as my uncle works in.... crap, Orange County haha (had to think of the O.C. in order to remember that.... thank goodness for TV shows!)

Yes, he did have nice things to say..... he loved FL. Had he not met us and came to school here and fallen in love with being here, he probably would have gone back to FL.

I'm weighing myself with a scale that measures my weight, body fat, water percent and BMI. Then I also measure myself either every wk or 2. I also write down when I workout. All of these things are kept in a notebook.

I have used pinterest before. There is some great stuff on there between health/fitness and wedding sections!

So ladies, how are you measuring your progress? I'm weighing myself regularly, and I was measured when I tried on my dress so I can look at that too.... My plan is really to try on my dress monthly, what I should have dine was measure how far apart the zipper was.... I'm gonna do that this month. May 22 is the next try on - dress lives at my step-mothers house to hide it from FH.

Some other motivation I use is the weight loss challenge at my work, and I love to cruise the health and fitness page on Pinterest, so many great tips, recipes and motivational photos there!

I too want to lose a bit more before my wedding! I get Married in january so I have some time. But I am also a bridesmaid for my friends wedding in August and thats a few short months away!!!

I have lost 90 lbs total. since I started weightwatchers a few years ago. I have been hovreing at my weight now for a bit, At least maintaining and not gaining. But I do want to be down another 20 at least by my wedding. Its doable.... If i fricken start kicking my ass and not slacking! lol . I started my crazy workouts again. HOwever I have also been working a second job WHICH this week has cut into my working out schedule.

I did a lot of weight training last week, and didnt lose much, Probably gained muscle as I feel more toned, which is good. But we all want those numbers on the scale! lol .

Next week I think i will dedicate 5 days to kickboxing(cardio) and do a double work out and add weights.

I also have my friends bachlorette party in Vegas in about a month and a few days. So I want to push myself hard before then too!!!

SMH. The things we do!

hahaha congrats.!!! big accomplishment there.

I usually measure my progress with my clothes. I think it is the best way to see the progress and feel motivated. I love with I put pants on that I could barely fit in and now they are so loose that I had to go out and buy new clothes because they are that baggy. I also like the compliments (not to sound self centered). I really think that with all the hard work we put into losing weight and sacrificing all the delicious food everyone else is eating, we deserve all the compliments we can get! they are our motivators anyway, so keep them coming!

wow 90 lbs?!?! that is fantastic!!!! congrats! that shows so much dedication. I am sure you can lose the 20 lbs with the will and persistence that you have been showing. I use to get disappointed when I got on a scale but we have to remember that as we work out and try to be more healthy, we are also gaining muscle so that keeps our weight constant at a certain point. I am not doing it for the numbers, I just want to look and feel better about my image.

Thank you :) Yeah it was officially 90lbs 2 weeks ago. Granted I gained about 3 lbs. But weight flucuates in between weigh ins lol . It took a lot of will power not to stop at mcdonalds hahah But i did it. now I just have to continue it! Its hard to lose the last bit! Ive even thought to just lipo the fat out of my stomach as thats the one part I dont like! lol!!!!

I agree. This week the scale hasnt really moved. But i put that to muscle gain(hopefully) lol And maybe next week it will move.

I think its great that all you ladies are here supporting eachother. It def Makes the process easier. If you guys dont mind I will chime in on sunday how my progress is going as well :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
