2014 Paradisus Palma Real

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies, I'm new to this forum and want to say thank you for all the input I've received thus far from you all! I'm excited to say that I'm getting married in June 2014 and leaning toward the taylormade package. Angelnjewels, you mentioned that they have a revised package? How many people does that include? I just want to make sure I got the correct one. Also, would it make sense to reserve some rooms for my guests? Or should I let them reserve themselves? I'm thinking of staying at the Reserve Palma Real with half of my guest but the other half of my guest will stay in the main resort. I'm expecting about 40 guests! One last question: Is it true that the rooms only allow 3 adults and 1 child or 2 adults and 2 children? I have my brother and his wife who have an 18 year old and a 21 year old (which is considered 4 adults). They were planning on booking one room with double beds...I'm learning now that they have to book 2 rooms?!? Yikes, this completely puts then out of budget and I feel really bad about it! Any advise on this. I have other guests in this predicament. Your thoughts ladies?

Hey!

I am somewhat new to this post, but just as a reader :) I had my wedding at the Paradisus Palma Real on October 11 and had such a wonderful experience, I thought I'd share. Like many of you, I had my uncertainties and hesitations just based on what past brides have said. My advice to you is stay calm, stay organized and remember that your wedding day is about who you are sharing it with! Our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were on the beach. It did begin to rain about half-way through our reception and it was suggested that we move indoors so we could continue to have the DJ. Obviously this wasn't ideal, but we got all of the important stuff taken care of outside before it rained. They moved us to the one of the ballrooms which had air-conditioning, that was a plus!

Here's a link to our "Sneak Peek" photos from our photographers. They are friends of ours and stayed with us as guests so we didn't have to pay the "outside vendor" fee.

Massiel was my coordinator on-site and she was absolutely amazing! She even offered suggestions during our planning meeting regarding lighting that made our wedding even more perfect/ true to our vision. She worked with us to plan a rehearsal the night of the wedding and 3 group dinners for 30 people at Vento, Aqua, and Bana- Bana was absolutely hands down the best food we had on the trip!

DJ Abentos was terrific! They respected our special requests and got the party started... fast! I don't think I stopped dancing for 3 hours straight. They are really good about taking requests of your guests, too. The Dominican Trio was also great and super friendly. We had them play during the cocktail hour.

Food- AMAZING! The appetizers at the cocktail hour were just enough to hold us over before the buffet at the reception. I'm normally not a buffet person, but selection #1 did not disappoint! The cake, like most say, is to die for too. They even made me a special gluten-free cake for the cake cutting!

Bottom Line- be patient, cooperative and kind with your coordinators and the staff at the resort and you're guaranteed to have a flawless wedding like we did!

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!

Lisa

Hey Girls,

i've been trying to jump on the forum but i guess my last post never got put up. i am new to the planning process. i just put my deposit down for our wedding in august 2014 paradisus palma real. i have a few questions and im sure i will have a ton more as the planning process begins. does anyone know where they move your wedding to if it rains? we are having the beach ceremony and was planning the terrace for our reception. i dont know if this is going to be really cheesy and cheap looking. we hare having lots of guest come from all over and i just can't see having a wedding and then it rains right in the middle of things. What would you do if you were having dinner and it started to pour? has anyone had their reception at Gabi Beach Club? im thinking to pay this extra upgrade fee. also, does anyone know if there is an additional charge for the wedding coordinator that is on site?

thank you, cant wait to hear more feed back

Hi krisod, Welcome!!!! Congrats and wish you all the best with our wedding plans! If it rains you can speak with the wedding coordinators on where you would like your event held. The gabi is beautiful but pretty expensive!!! If you afford.... It is really awesome!!!! The Apollo ballrooms, Apollo terrace are also indoor spaces whic work beautifully. We decided on having our reception at the Apollo ballroom since it has a/c and we did not want to take the chance. The wedding coordinators do not charge extra for their services. You have to pay for your package, upgrades and add ons. My wedding is less than 5 months away and I feel like I have so much to do. Just got my bridesmaid dresses!!!! Oh boy!

Congrats on picking your date! I can't answer your questions since I haven't been to PPR yet, but the terrace seems to be a popular option for PPR brides, as is Apollo ballroom if you want the reception to be completely indoors. I agree with angelnjewels - if you can afford Gabi Beach, the feedback on that space is fantastic as well. Best thing is to browse other brides' pictures and maybe look up "palma real wedding highlight" on google video search to get more glimpses of the spaces. I think you picked the right resort if you are concerned about not having your wedding "cheesy and cheap looking"... from reviews I've read from other brides, PPR is probably one of the nicest resorts in the area to choose for your wedding.

Good luck w/ planning.

Yup, still hanging around :) Your wedding is less than 5 months away, my wedding is 6 months away... time is counting down!! Hope all is going well. Things are going smoothly for me so far.. only thing is that this vendor fee we're going to end up paying for outside photographers/videographers is so annoying. Sucks that these resorts try to force you to use their vendors by implementing astronomical vendor fees - especially for photos/videos, which are so important. Anywhow, right now we are deciding on the fire show and looking into other entertainment options. All else is so far so good! (knock on wood)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
