Simple OOT bags with a master "Just in case" bag

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow DW brides!

I love the idea of OOT bags. But, the more I think about it, the more I wonder...will my guests even use most of what I put in this bag?

Some things make sense and I feel like they will me used by more than not. Water bottles, luggage tags, lysol wipes, etc. are items I believe most people should find useful. However, neosporin, bandaids, tylenol, pepto bismol, etc. are items that you will either definitely utilize (for obvious reasons) or they will just go unused.

As a cost saving measure, I was thinking about doing a courtesy/ "Just in case" bag. I will put a note in a condensed OOT stating what items are available should they need them.

So, what is your honest opinion of this idea?

I think an OOT bag is a great idea...though I'm struggling on what to put in it as I would like to keep it light...as for the neosporin, bandaids etc...I believe most people pack those kinda items and most resorts now have little stores where you can buy stuff..but if you have the room then I don't think it would hurt :)

Some people do pack those types of things, but in the excitement of travelling we all forget things sometimes. My wedding will be a little different because my FH, guests and I will be doing a wedding week cruise. So the items that would normally be available if you were at a resort are not necessarily available. But, if they do need something they will have to pay an arm and a leg because they may have no other option being at sea and all (gotta love the rules of supply and demand! angry.gif

Basically I started this post because my FH and I love the idea of the OOT bag. We think it is a great gesture to our sailing guests. But, we don't want to overburden our guests with a lot of items they might not even use. Therefore, we thought about giving them an OOT bag...and having a note about the fact that we have a "just in case"/community/master bag (idk what to call it) should they need another else.

For example,

Mom and Dad,

Here is a welcome bag to show our appreciation for you accompanying us on our wedding cruise. This bag includes

  1. . However, should you need any additional items, please feel free to let us know as we have a "in sickness and in health" bag (think this is what I will call it :) ) that includes [ list items]. Just give us a call, our stateroom phone number is [insert phone number] and we will find a way to deliver it to you.

Obviously a first draft, so I would appreciate a little feedback.

But, I hope that better examples the gist of why I started the thread. :)

I would put it all in the OOT bag. If you get the litle travel ones or make travel packs with just a few things - it doesn't take up that much room. Many people may not want to bother you - because you are the bride and groom :) If anything - they will toss it. But putting it right in their bag should be easier.

I was recently on a cruise where there was a very large wedding (I think they said 120 people). They all had bags with things - anyways, you could easily identify the wedding. It was nice - I enjoyed their wedding and I wasn't even invited!

Just my 2 cents :) Have fun!

I am doing exactly this!  Everyone will get a Welcome Bag - but I wanted to have some "just in case" items (sun block, feminine products, etc.) and extras ( things like aspirin, tums, etc.)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
