a tent on the beach sounds awesome! I wanted to do something kinda indoor/outdoor.  I went a dw years ago and it rained so we used the backup location...the terrace.  the bride was so happy we ended up there. I loved it too...so that was my motivation for picking chil.

Hi @@beccafries -

Apologies for the delay.

Collections - @@talicea7812 is right.  It's roughly $3K for the corresponding ceremony decor and $250/table (does NOT include centerpieces - only chairs, linens, chargers, etc..) for the package reception decor. The "positive" with the collections is that they will permit tweaks (e.g. you don't like the charger that's in the package but like one from another) without added fees.

While I was there, I did a price comparison against the "uniquely you" aka a la carte/choose your own linens, chairs etc.. and it was $540/table which is nuckin futs!  :o

Centerpieces:  The centerpieces start as low as $50/table and go up to $150/table.

Food:  it's from the Banquet Menu which I think you can download from the Karisma site or email them for wedding package info.  It's the same choice for all of the Karisma properties and pretty tasty. There were a few things we weren't fans of but we like most of the things we tried. The collections also come with pre-set menus that you can make tweaks to.

Pics - I have some but need to figure out how to upload them.

Reception Sites:  as the other ladies mentioned, the options are:

  • Lounge Palapa - right at the beach and part of the "gardens"; you can have a seated private dinner of no more than 10-15 guests, all seated at a long table & they use the grass/"gardens" adjacent to it for cocktail hour.  This location can also be used for cocktail hour (bar under the palapa with high tables set up in the grass).

  • Chil - no more than 30 and even that's kinda tight as it isn't a really large restaurant. Its on the far end close to the pier & very quaint for an event. A bride had her welcome reception there due to rain.  The set up was basic (white tablecloths and restaurant chairs & votive candles on the tables) & it looked chic and intimate.

  • Blue - the ladies have already covered this. The reception is restricted to the covered terrace area which overlooks the beach.  They close off the indoor part so guests can still eat there etc...it's closest to the main pool.

  • Beach - the ladies covered this as well I believe.

  • Sky deck - BEAUTIFUL! It costs more ($1700 to use it) but they have a really nice area below the ceremony section that's used for cocktails &/or receptions.

Hi Ladies,

I thought about starting a new thread but I will start on this one first.  What are you ladies doing for Mother of the Bride flowers?  Or are you doing MOB flowers?    Somebody mentioned maybe getting them a clutch to carry instead?

Im on the fence with the MOB flowers.  I think my mom wants a bouquet...but at the same time I would prefer to save the money and do a corsage or something.  She's def not the clutch type...but that is a cute idea

Any ladies hiring a videographer? Who are you using?

I don't know what to do... I really want a video. This is a momentous occasion and will go by so fast... but the approved vendors are no good and the $800 vendor fee is crushing.

What are you doing? thoughts?

I'm having an unplugged wedding so that website that pieces together guests videos is no good.  I also don't want to look out at my small group and see their faces hidden by cameras, phones, and Ipads.

Thanks.  I found a pearl wrist corsage on Etsy that may work.

As of now no, but I am having second thoughts.  My photographers husband does video so maybe I could get away with one vendor fee.  Cant do another $800.

I also want to do an unplugged ceremony.  I figure it was only going to be short time so they could put their phones up for a little while.  Might be hard to convince my step mom.  They are all so worried about not getting pictures.

we are doing the unplugged wedding for several reasons...

1. my Fi's family is camera crazy. His mom thinks shes a photographer. Stand here. pose like this. it could go on forever.

2. we hired an awesome photographer. we intend on taking pictures with every guest and once its all said and done we will make up parents albums.  were not really planning on doing parent gifts at the rehearsal/wedding. the album will be their gifts.

3. we have a small wedding group. I don't want to look out at them and see their faces hidden by cameras, ipads, & phones.

4. we want to be the first to post pics on social media.

5. we've had issues in the past with my FIs mom not sharing the pics with us. (my daughters bday she took pics while we sand happy bday. when asked several times to share them with us, she didn't respond)

The FIs family is definitely not happy. His mother in particular....but we've been telling them since the very beginning that's its how its gonna be. Oh well if she isn't happy. its not about her.

@tcmcdonald

I saw a cute pearl wrist corsage on etsy too!

@tcmcdonald - My FI and decided against corsages.  I am going to purchase my mom and his mom some earrings from Kendra Scott instead.

We were really torn on a videographer, but the fact that we weren't happy with the ones the resort offered and aren't willing to shell out another $800, we just aren't going to do it.  I'm really happy with the photographer we chose, we aren't huge video people anyway, so I'm good with our decision.

I'm getting ready to pay our final payment to Karisma.  I didn't realize they charged just for using white sheers.  And $100 per white sheer... Talk about nickle and diming.  The thought crossed my mind to bring our own, but I don't know if I want to deal with that either.  What is everyone else doing regarding sheers?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
