Hi @@beccafries

I know your post wasn't directed to me but this is what I know.

the collections are the same price. 2900 covers only the ceremony décor.  I don't know if you're planning on a private reception but if you are its an additional cost per table to have them decorated in the matching style. I think its $300 per table.

My cocktail party is included at no cost bc I booked with a GIVC travel agent.  Its supposed to be valued at $500.  The reception costs varies depending on your food selections.  I think the range is somewhere around 18-30 a person.

Blue terrace is supposed to be a minimum of 50.  Chil terrace...not sure min but max I believe is 30.

I know you can rent sound equipment to hook up an ipod.  That's prob the route im going.  Ive read the DJ doesn't speak much English and pretty much presses stop and play.

have you already booked? when is the wedding?

What is everyone doing about a videographer? Are you getting one? are you using a resort approved vendor or choosing your own.

I don't know if I can fit it in the budget but as we get closer to the wedding day...its becoming something I really want- especially after searching different vendor samples.  The day will go by so fast...I want to be able to sit down later and see it from a different perspective.

@talicea7812   We really didn't like the photographers that Azul offers and we are going with Playaweddings for photo and video. Although that choice will require us to be robbed of the $800 outside vendor fee, Playa is discounting our package to offset that and their work looks so much better than the vendors Azul uses.

Also, We've been following your plight with Azul and the outside vendors. We've done a little research on that as well and what we've discovered is that if you plan to use someone for flowers/cake/decor and plan to meet them, they will not be able to get to the resort. You will have to take a taxi to meet them offsite. They will not be able to get past the guardshack at the front gate by the main road. Just keep that in mind.

Your wedding is very close too...right?

How is your planning? What are you doing about decorations? cake? music? hair & make up?

Taking a cab out may be doable. The groomsmen don't need much time to get ready. even a cab fee won't be that bad.

We are even exploring the option of having the reception at a local restaurant.  Up until we came across the transportation issue it was going to be a better deal.  I'm waiting for some price quotes on a bus or van to take my guests from Azul to the restaurant, however, I think that's going to put us over budget.

this is so hard. I have this vision in my head that is affordable if azul didn't have the crazy vendor fees & poor vendor choices.

The differences are insane.  I sent the same cake pic to Azul and a local baker- Zaida Marcos.  Azul quoted $300 (12.50 a slice) Zaida $4 a slice...so $150 for the cake.

Azul DJ $1000+.... DJ Doremixx $850 (and has amazing reviews)

Our wedding is the week after yours. We arrive on April 17. Maybe we'll bump into you and we can chit-chat abou how our day turned out. We are holding out hope that once we get on site, the coordinators there will have a much better handle on things.

For our decorations, we are keeping things minimalistic. We are trying to let the beauty of the resort and ocean provide the decorations. We are just adding little touches, hurricanes, votives, lights.

We were undecided on the cake and chose to go with cake pops decorated like little bride and grooms, but those are going to cost us $200.

We're using the Azul DJ and hoping for the best.

I am a little crazy and looked up Azul beach on google earth.  is the guard shack all the way at the top of that long road? any estimate on how long it is? doesn't look like something that can be walked...however, that wont stop me if need be :)

Just curious

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
