@@AggieKat - I've decided to take a less is more (aka simple elegance) approach based on feedback from friends who did DWs.  They both suggested/reminded me to take into account the setting's beauty/charm.  Outdoor locations, especially destination ones, unlike some indoor locations (e.g. ballrooms) tend to speak for itself.  Another friend who had her ceremony & reception at a museum had the same feedback. They added simple touches to their ceremony & reception sites to help enhance the setting and  beauty of it.  Blue's backdrop/setting is so intimate and pretty that I think something mid-range (a few candles and/or flowers) will give it that special "pop."

I didn't know it was an option til recently either.  everything with my planner is like pulling teeth.  when I ended up with less ppl than originally thought she told me I could do the beach or sky terrace? sky is extra $$$ and def didn't want to be right on the beach.  Finally she suggested Chil. There is enough room for dancing and is smaller so I don't have to worry about a lot of open space.

@@tmcdonald - did you book through a GI Coordinator as well to get your free event?

@@talicea7812 - thanks (as always  :) ) for the info! I wish I had known the free event part or else I would have gone with one of their agents. I wanted someone impartial since I wasn't totally sold on going with a Karisma property at the very beginning. *sighs* live and learn right?

@@ng2015 - i totally agree about fighting for every perk!  I didn't read anywhere that you cannot combine offers etc... i plan to fight as well when the time comes and from the sound of things it will.

i'm adding "earn a free event" to my list of things to ask when i'm down there this weekend.   has anyone else seen the competing offers on their site that say on the one hand guests can get 33% off if they book early but else where it's 30%. I know it's only a 3% difference but a deal is a deal and every little bit helps for not just us but our guests.

Sorry if I already responded to this.  My mind is all over the place.  I booked through Destination Weddings so she negotiated  contract for me.

@@talicea7812 - If my WC gives me pushback on Blue Terrace, I'll definitely ask about the Chil.  I'll be digging my heels in if they try to move us inside the restaurant.  Who is your WC?

@@girlinthecity97 - I like your thinking!  I was contemplating some flowers on the altar, but it kills me to give Lomas anymore money than I have to.  I saw some cool photos on Pinterest of some beach weddings where they tied ribbons along the backs of the chairs just on the last row.  I thought it'd look pretty in the breeze and not too over the top.  However, I'm scared to know how much the resort might charge to tie the ribbons on...  I hate the unknown of decor setup.  i know you all have discussed it before.  I know if I mention it to my WC now, she'll saw oh, that's so many hundreds of dollars for setup, but other brides seem to showup and the WC don't bat an eye and setup everything for free.

Hello brides!

Quick questions about cakes. I wont be able to taste anything before getting to Azul, and while i have asked over 4 times, noone has telled me if i can define cake flavour when i arrive. Is anyone in that position? does anyone know if I can taste the cakes once i land in Mexico and decide then?

If not, anyone has any insight on the options? The cake might be in the top three prority list for my fiance, so i am trying to make sure it is well taken care off.

Thanks!

@@jasstz - when I went down, they said you will do a menu and cake tasting once you arrive with the resort's onsite coordinator and they will note what you like etc.  The pastry chef you can send pics in advance, but also when you arrive of any cake styles/designs you like and they will work to make it happen.  You can even say I like the dots or flowers on this cake, but the shape of that one. As long as the pics are labeled, he said they strive to make it happen - the more details/visuals you provide, the better.

When I did a tasting at the event, we didn't like the cake pops but liked the strawberry (it's more of a strawberry w/ cream) cake and one other - I have to ask my fiance what that flavor was. Those flavors were moist and tasted pretty good. I was bracing myself for something horrible based on some of the reviews on here.  We didn't like the cake pops. They tasted like they weren't completely cooked.

has anyone on here read about bringing your own flowers?

I was on another forum and a woman who was married at Moon palace said she was able to order her flowers through another vendor and have them delivered.  Someone went out to the lobby to bring them in and the resort didn't say anything.

Ive been reading reviews about a florist in cancun...Marvin, and he's supposed to be awesome and affordable.

I am doing true touch flowers, a friend lives in Cancun and she si receiving them and then giving them to me before arriving to the hotel.

I also read a lot about brides receiving the flowers outside the lobby. i think is pretty much doable

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
