@@tmcdonald - did you book through a GI Coordinator as well to get your free event?

@@talicea7812 - thanks (as always  :) ) for the info! I wish I had known the free event part or else I would have gone with one of their agents. I wanted someone impartial since I wasn't totally sold on going with a Karisma property at the very beginning. *sighs* live and learn right?

@@ng2015 - i totally agree about fighting for every perk!  I didn't read anywhere that you cannot combine offers etc... i plan to fight as well when the time comes and from the sound of things it will.

i'm adding "earn a free event" to my list of things to ask when i'm down there this weekend.   has anyone else seen the competing offers on their site that say on the one hand guests can get 33% off if they book early but else where it's 30%. I know it's only a 3% difference but a deal is a deal and every little bit helps for not just us but our guests.

@@tmcdonald you're welcome..I hope it helps!!

@@girlinthecity97 I did see that book early 30% off deal but it's off their current prices. I don't know if the prices they would give for your group would be any cheaper than the prices they have listed on the site.

Thanks ng2015

Has anyone found that Azul Beach is nickel and diming you?  I am a little upset that they are not offering the complimentary wedding package like a lot of other resorts do.

Is anyone using one of the photographers that is allowed without the $800 vendor fee?  My fiancé and I don't have the money to pay the $800 plus photography considering we already have to pay $950 for the wedding.  I was just curious if anyone had any positive or negative reviews of the resort photographers?

My wedding is sooo close! April 12th! I should be in the final stages of planning but I am really getting no where.  I chose a destination wedding bc it is cheaper than home...however, Azul is doing everything they can to make me spend more!

For example: Lomas charges $4 to rent chair sashes.  I found them online for .81cents. When I asked my planner about it she said we could bring our own decoration but Azul would charge up to $5 a person to set it up and guests are not permitted to set up.  I think $4 a sash is crazy! we don't keep them that's all I want on the chair.  I don't want the included white chair covers.

The closer I get to my wedding the more I am regretting choosing Azul.  Im sure it will be fine once we get there...im just frustrated with the process.  I'm spending a lot of money to stay there & even tho my wedding is small...im still bringing ppl that wouldn't have normally stayed there. I have received 0 perks from the resort.

- I don't have enough rooms booked for bride & groom stay free or other perks related to that

- im not staying nights in a Jacuzzi or higher room to qualify for the free wedding package

As for the photographer...it is my top priority.  I looked at the approved vendors and was not happy.  the pictures were mediocre.  the one (the cheaper of the 2) didn't even edit photos until you got into the larger packages.  Im actually going to fly in my photographer from home.  Altogether im paying about $3000 for her.  she lowered her package price by half bc im paying hotel and air.  She is definitely the best decision I made when planning the wedding!

another issue I ran into was hair and makeup.  I wanted to bring in a girl from MAC. my planner told me that it wasn't possible.  they don't allow them in the hotel and I would have to use their salon.  Now my planner is a total ASS! just giving u the heads up.  I asked for salon prices.  she sends me a list that just has prices...no descriptions.  so it says bridal package 1...$200.  but I don't know what that includes.  I also cant find any reviews on the salon staff...which makes me nervous.  some of the packages are pretty pricey so I would like to know what others have thought in the past.

You are getting close!!!  How exciting.

Yeah the charging for EVERYTHING is making a destination wedding not so cost effective like they normally are.  It is making me second guess my decision.  So far I have only put down a $200 deposit to reserve the wedding day so I could still change resorts and loose the $200.  I just don't know where else I would want it at.  All the reviews say Azul Beach has some of the best weddings and I like the idea of a smaller venue.

Photography is a big issue for us.  There is no way I could afford $3,000 for a photographer but I don't want awful pictures either.  I didn't realize that some of them don't edit the pictures!!! Thanks for pointing that out!  If they don't edit that's like having one of our guests take pictures for free and it be the same quality.

I don't know what to do

I just really lucked out with the photographer.  I didn't like the approved one and started looking in mexico.  there are some absolutely amazing ones out there but they are crazy expensive! and with the vendor fee they were totally out of the question.  The only reason my FI agreed to my girl is bc I applied for a coaching position and got it.  Every dollar from that is to pay the photographer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
